    Description

Welcome! We are a small dive resort with 5 rooms, located on Bangka Island, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The closest airport to us is Manado, with regular flights to and from Singapore, Jakarta, Bali, etc. To reach us, it takes a 1 hour drive to the north coast and then a (30-45 minute) boat transfer.

We are in a very remote setting. The island has no roads, no shops or anything other than 5 other dive resorts and the local village(s). It is very important to know this before coming here. If you love nature you will be very happy here!

If you decide to come here we will be living very closely together as it is a small resort and we have breakfast, lunch and dinner together everyday along with our guests as a big family. If you are not someone that is happy interacting with others and living in a sense of community, this probably isn't the right place for you.

There are no cars on the island, our main transportation are boats, or we walk. Our generator provides the resort with electricity and is switched on from 9am until everyone has gone to bed (usually between 10pm and 10:30pm). There is no electricity at night. We have "one-temperature" water, so not really cold but no hot showers either.

The resort was built with the help of the local community using local materials and techniques. Our peaceful bay is home to many species of birds, monitor lizards and tarsiers and feels like a real castaway resort. We have world class diving right on our doorstep all year round. We are after all in the centre of the coral triangle where you find the highest marine biodiversity in the world. If you are a certified diver, you can join us on the boat during your time off. If you're not a diver you can join us for snorkeling too.

Our main goals right now are making the resort an even better place than before.

    Minimum 2 weeks stay preferable.

  • Help

    Help

The help depends a lot on how busy we are and how much waste is on the beach. Work load and tasks can vary depending on how many guests we have. There are 3 main areas we need help with.

Recycling project - this is where most of your time its going to be dedicated to. Your main tasks will be collecting, sorting and cleaning (plastic) waste in order to make it recyclable.
Beach / mangroves clean up - this is integrated with the recycling project, which requires picking up plastic of the beach and out of the mangroves every day and then sorting it and putting it in the right bags/place. We will expect you to keep the beach and mangroves clean with the help of our local staff (when they are available).

Resort maintenance - This can involve chores such as painting, sanding, gardening, fixing, replacing, general maintenance & cleaning.

We all do a little bit of everything around here and are hoping to find volunteers who are willing to do the same in return for an amazing stay and experience to remember!
