We are a lively and fun beach hostel, located 20 minutes outside of Leon, Nicaragua, on a small island separated by a small estuary. We offer guests a secluded location with dorms, private cabins and private rooms. During dry season, we also offer camping. Within our small location we offer daily volleyball, a fully stocked bar and restaurant, organic farm, yoga, massages, horseback riding, bonfires, turtle watchings, turtle hatchings, and surfing.

Volunteers will work with our 25+ local employees caring for the hostel, farm, animals, and guests. Aside from learning some Spanish and Nica sayings, volunteers can expect to make lasting friendships. Many volunteers here are invited to local birthday parties, salsa nights and baseball games. Volunteers here learn first hand, how hard Nicaraguans work as well as how they live. Some may be surprised at the constant enthusiasm and energy Nicaraguans have even if they have so little material wealth. The biggest thing we hope our volunteers learn is the ability to enjoy the simple goods the world has placed in front of us without being clouded by the materials we don't have.
Volunteers here become the face of our hostel and we love for their personalities to shine. In exchange for amenities, food, discounts and activities, we ask volunteers to help with welcoming guests and providing information, beach cleanup and gardening, and organizing activities for guests (including daily volleyball).
When looking for volunteers, we like to choose ones who are extroverted, customer-service oriented and who keep positive attitudes. The most demanding part of the help is keeping constant energy and enthusiasm, while being inclusive and available to help guests at all times. We want our guests as well as our volunteers to have the best experience here as possible. Our volunteers cannot be shy!
We encourage volunteers to get involved in our hostel by bringing their ideas and creativity. Volunteers are welcome to help staff with gardening, the turtle hatchery/preparation, painting, art projects, yoga, massages, etc.
During turtle season, volunteers will be asked to host the turtle releases. This requires learning safe methods, memorizing some information and giving informational speeches to large groups.
We ask for a 6 WEEK commitment MINIMUM and prefer volunteers who commit to longer time periods. We do not take couples. Please do not ask for exceptions.
Looking for some permaculture volunteers as well! And landscaping ideas!
