Description
We are a lively and fun beach hostel, located 20 minutes outside of Leon, Nicaragua, on a small island separated by a small estuary. We are off the grid and solar powered location who offers guests a secluded location with miles of virtually deserted pacific beachfront. We have an onsite sea turtle hatchery that is very active during nesting season and have released thousands of baby sea turtles into the ocean. Also, we have an organic farm with fruit trees, chickens, pigs, horses and more. We have a bar/restaurant, volleyball court, surfboard rentals, beach yoga deck and more. In the evening we have a beach bar, bonfires, and music.

Volunteers will work with our 15+ local employees caring for the hostel, farm, animals, and guests. Aside from learning some Spanish and Nica sayings, volunteers can expect to make lasting friendships with the locals as well as other volunteers. Along with meeting the local community and people from around the world, volunteers will be emersed in the natural beautify of Nicaragua and get a great understanding of how an off the grid and eco friendly hostel functions.
Help
Volunteers are an integral part of the team which include international as well as local staff. In exchange for amenities, food, discounts and activities, we ask volunteers to help around the Lodge with various tasks as well as interact with guests. We also encourage volunteers to utilize their skills and passions to improve the Lodge with things like gardening, art making, yoga and more.
Volunteers should be extroverted, active and match the positive attitude of the team. The most demanding part of the help is keeping constant energy and enthusiasm, while being inclusive and available to help. We want our guests as well as our volunteers to have the best experience here as possible. Our volunteers cannot be shy!
During turtle season, volunteers will be asked to host the turtle releases. This requires learning safe methods, memorizing some information and giving informational speeches to large groups.
We ask for a 4-6 WEEK commitment MINIMUM and prefer volunteers who commit to longer time periods.Languages spoken
