Description
Hello! My name is Yukiko, and I live in Himeji, Japan, with my husband and our two sons, aged 18 and 8.
Himeji is famous for its beautiful castle, rich history, and friendly local atmosphere. It is a wonderful place to experience both traditional Japanese culture and everyday life.
Our family enjoys meeting people from different countries and learning about different cultures. We welcome guests who are open-minded, kind, and interested in cultural exchange.
I organize English activities and events for parents and children in my local community. Volunteers may have opportunities to share their language, culture, games, songs, or ideas during these activities. If we organize an English event during your stay, I would appreciate your help and participation.
My younger son is learning English and enjoys meeting people from around the world. It would be wonderful if volunteers could spend some time playing and communicating with him in English.
I am also interested in cooking and would love to learn about food and recipes from different countries. While I do not provide regular meals, I would be happy to occasionally share a meal together, exchange stories, and learn about each other's cultures.
Through hosting, I hope to create meaningful connections and provide visitors with an authentic experience of local Japanese life.
We look forward to meeting you! -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our guests can experience everyday Japanese family life and connect with local people in our community.
You may have opportunities to join parent-child English events, meet Japanese families, and participate in local festivals or community activities when available.
This is a great chance to experience Japanese culture beyond typical tourism, make local friends, and share your own culture with others.
We look forward to learning from each other and creating meaningful cultural exchanges together. -
Help
We are mainly looking for volunteers who enjoy spending time with children and cultural exchange.
You may help with parent-child English activities, simple games, songs, storytelling, and sharing your culture with local families.
We would also appreciate volunteers spending some time communicating and playing with our 8-year-old son in English.
If you enjoy cooking, we would love to learn about food and recipes from your country.
Occasionally, you may also help with preparing or setting up community events. -

Accommodation
You will stay in a private room in our home and sleep on a traditional Japanese futon.
Please note that the guest room does not have air conditioning, but there is a fan in the room. The living room has air conditioning, and Wi-Fi is available.
The bathroom, toilet, kitchen, and living room are shared with our family. You are welcome to use the kitchen and refrigerator during your stay.
We live in a quiet residential area of Himeji, so you can experience everyday Japanese family life in a local home setting.
We'd love to share our home and meals with you and hope you'll enjoy experiencing everyday Japanese family life.
We provide three meals each day during your stay. As you'll usually have free time during the day, you're welcome to explore Himeji, visit cafés, or join us when we go shopping. If you choose to eat at a restaurant or café during your free time, we kindly ask that you cover the cost yourself.
Please enjoy the meals we prepare for you. If you would like extra snacks, drinks, or special foods, please feel free to buy your own. You're also welcome to use our refrigerator and kitchen to store and prepare your own food.
We enjoy eating together whenever possible and hope you'll feel like part of our family during your stay. -
