Description
Hello!
I've been living in a particularly beautiful and friendly part of rural France for six years now and it's been a wonderful adventure! I moved here from the UK to create a simpler, more grounded, authentic lifestyle. And I have. I've improved my French and started to understand rural French culture, whilst renovating an old farm. The two stone houses here and the village house 5 minutes away are now very comfortable and cosy, but there are always ongoing maintenance jobs to do and sometimes creative projects to work on (current list below).
I’d like to host people ⭐️WITH THEIR OWN TRANSPORT⭐️ to help with various tasks:
🖌️Outside jobs, for example painting the shutters on the gite, applying preserver to the field shelters and decking etc.
🔨There’s always fencing to check, add or repair!
👩🌾Tidying the gardens and pruning trees, helping with the veg/flower garden etc.
🦄 Helping me to look after the animals (a lovely horse, a donkey, a mini- Shetland, 4 friendly dogs and 2 cats).
In return you would have sole use of the super cute 1 bedroomed village house 5 minutes drive from my home (see pics) next door to a ruined chateau, with an allocated amount of money given so that you can shop for yourself. You are welcome to eat lunch or dinner a few times a week with me at my house (vegetarian), depending on the agreed timings of your hours (5 hours a day, 5 days a week).
A workaway here might work well for a couple, a digital nomad or for those just wanting some time out to re-connect with themselves and nature in a peaceful place within Perigord Natural Park.
I'm happy, creative, love yoga, crafty stuff, horse riding and vegetarian cooking. I'm interested in people, cultures and collaborating. If you'd like to do a Workaway stay here and contribute your skills or learn new skills along the way, do get in touch!
Look forward to hearing from you.
Elizabeth.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
There are lots of opportunities for creative collaboration here- I'm interested in developing ideas with others and love exchanging knowledge and experiences. It's a peaceful, happy place. I find it's enough to just 'be' here and soak up the natural surroundings. You'll leave feeling refreshed and definitely more grounded and relaxed. There are also daily opportunities to learn more about animal care.

Help
In Spring and Summer the gardens are a main focus.
In Winter, just general help is most welcome!

Accommodation
The house you would stay in has a cute kitchen which is fully kitted out with washing machine etc, a shower room, a lounge with TV/wifi and a double bedroom. It is on 3 floors and has steep steps just so you know!
I usually provide an agreed amount of money each week to cover food costs. I would anticipate us eating together some lunchtimes and in the evenings a couple of times a week maybe. We can agree what works best. I’m vegetarian. It's completely non-smoking inside and out.
What else ...
There are so many interesting places to explore in the area...Rochechouart- the chateau is now a contemporary gallery, Roman Baths at Cassiomagnus, historic Chalus Castle where Richard the Lionheart died, beautiful Brantome, Jumilhac le Grand, Bussiere-Galant with it's swim lake, several Voie Vert cycle tracks- I have bikes you can borrow, Thiviers- the market there is great. Limoges is just half an hour away.
Or you may prefer to walk in the woods, practice yoga, draw...or star gaze at night.
I hope that anyone staying here will respect me, my animals, my home and enjoy working on fun, varied projects whilst staying in a beautiful place.
