    Description

    Greetings to all readers !

There's always hope to find what we are looking for 🎵 don't give up 🎵

I'm fixing up a small homestead in Latvia. My ways have a very strong spiritual direction. Manuscripts focusing on raw truth-finding studies is my way, a turning back seems necessary for humanity.

Now ready to turn a new page, inviting and welcoming workawayers and other wandering stars 😃
I am also interested to create exchanges with other hosts in my area, we can learn much by visiting each other.

Is it compulsory for visitors to work on the homestead? No, if you are searching a retreat without physical works you are welcome. There are other exchanges possible, however you will not be asked for money in exchange for your stay.
How much work is expected of you ? I offer 3 meals per day in exchange for 25 hours help over 5 days. Alternatively you are welcome to provide your own food in exchange for 15 hours work. The communal cooking facilities are available in either case.

The new sleeping cabin has one double bed, I'm looking to host an old fashioned couple, manuscripts already in hand. More than two visitors can join with their campervan or caravan.

Now we had better strive to meet the right people than chasing the most comfortable facilities but anyways here's the what's already done list -

    * apple, pear and fruit trees/bushes are producing, there are approx 40 of them, have the good equipment for fresh pressed juices and the numerous other fruit delights

    * a greenhouse 30m2 has been rescued and producing for 3 years

    * a veg/fruit garden of 400m2 has been cultivated and producing for 3 years, also small raised wooden grow boxes

    * an outdoor covered kitchen with wood stove is made

    * the forest has been prepared for various activities like firewood processing, mushrooming, foraging, general husbandry and activities

    * an old log house has partly been rescued, it will be for old time deep studies, arts, indoor activities & craftworks such as weaving, ( two magical cast iron looms are waiting for hands ) knitting, rustic furniture building and anything according to ones imagination 😀 Now we fix in table tennis & darts board

    * one pro canoe for river adventures is waiting to move ( in Latvia are really great river trips )

    * the walls of a beautiful stone barn 6 x 12m are restored and it waits for roof and a new function 🤔

    * an underground cellar food and drinks storage has been installed

    * a mobile sawmill is installed 2 years ago, it provides wood for every kind of use

    * fully tooled up workshop is alive in the old barn ... metal, wood, stoneworks

    * a 12 x 30m swimming 'pool' is made

    * a sauna is restored, quite nice one actually

    * 3 grazing parks are made. During last 2 years we grazed a small flock of sheep

    * last year we installed a small fish farm system by the river and successfully reared 50 rainbow trouts

  • Help

    Help

Every kind of help imaginable on a small homestead is welcome. As per the spirit of Workaway, invited guests will not participate in any business activity.
First spirituality then arts, crafts, food, heating and fixing the place up to shelter. Here's a basic list for January '24, in order of importance

    * getting the old log house ready for action. Chimney stack has been repaired, fire on. You can learn the skills of building fireplace/stove/ heater with red clay bricks with special design elements for cooking and water heating. You can learn the basics of recycling, roofing, carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing/heating and solar energy capturing. I have 40+ years experience in these fields.

    * springtime - planting, preparation for welcoming a flock of sheep. Small flock of sheep grazed until November, their job is to keep the growth under control thus avoiding us work and fuel cost ... if no grazers the growth must be cut 5 times from April to October because the soil is very fertile.
