Description
We are a family of 5. We are a professional couple with our own family business. My husband James ( South African) and myself, Kellie (English), live with our our family and our female Labrador dog "Skye", in a spacious home in the Surrey Hills. Our three sons are all in their 20s. They are all independent and are currently living and working/travelling away from our home.
Our youngest son is currently travelling in New Zealand and our eldest (a doctor) is volunteering in South Africa later this year. We would like to join in the cultural exchange programme to meet other travellers who would enjoy looking after our wonderful, friendly dog Skye while we are all away.
Skye is a well-behaved dog. She’s very friendly and enjoys a daily walk in the forest near our home. James is a keen gardener and we have a large garden, which is fully enclosed for Skye to enjoy. I am an artist and teacher, working from my home studio.
We live in a large village near Guildford, with a grocery store, a number of shops, pubs and coffee shops. Our house is about 5 minutes walk to the nearest mainline train station and we are around 15 minutes by train into the nearest town of Guildford, We are 60 minutes by train into London Waterloo.
Our surrounding countryside is rated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many beautiful historic homes, landmarks and quaint villages in the hills around our area. There are many lovely walking & cycling routes in the forests and hills of our area too.
We are looking for workaways, possibly Digital Nomads, who are keen walkers / runners who would enjoy walking Skye in the Surrey countryside.
Skye is a well-behaved dog, who enjoys her walks and lazing on her bed afterwards.
We are offering one or two double bedrooms and a bathroom for your use, in addition to comfortable indoor and outdoor living spaces. We have two lounge areas, wifi, cable tv, various streamed channels and a spacious kitchen and dining room. We have a large, fenced garden.
Desks and tables are dotted throughout the house, suitable for workstations. We excellent wifi (superfast broadband recently installed).Types of help and learning opportunities

We will introduce you to our local area before we leave to travel. We live in a very friendly neighbourhood. There are a number of coffee shops and pubs in the area to meet the locals. There is a historic home in the village that was one of Henry VIII's palaces. You are welcome to join our local church community, who welcome visitors.

We are learning Italian as travel to Italy often. Having lived, worked and travelled in many different countries (including South Africa, Italy, Switzerland, Holland and Israel). We enjoy learning about other cultures. We speak English at home and James speaks some Afrikaans at work, as James is fluent in Afrikaans and many of his employees are Afrikaans speaking South Africans.Accommodation
We are offering one or two secure double bedrooms and a bathroom for your use during your stay. We have two lounge areas and a spacious kitchen and dining room. We have a large garden, with outdoor seating. There are a number of desks in the home, for home-working. There is a stable wifi available (fibre broadband). Some foodstuff will be provided for you during your stay.
What else ...
There's lots of walking, running and cycling routes in our area; National Trust properties and other Historical homes. You could visit Guildford (15 mins) and London (60 mins) easily by train, providing Skye is not left alone for longer than 4 hours. Should you wish to go out for longer than 4 hours in the day, we have a dog walker who could come once a week to walk Skye and enable you to venture out for longer periods once a week (on request).
