    =============
    WE ARE LOOKING FOR HELP FROM 7TH TO 30TH OF APRIL 2025 TO PREPARE OUR GARDEN).
    =============

    HELLO!

    Important ! You have to speak french, even if we can speak basic english if necessary.

    We are a couple, Michel et Hélène, owners of an old farm we've been entirely renovating over the past thirty years.

    The hamlet is 20 minutes away from Angoulême, on the edge of Dordogne, on a fantastic natural site with a river, sources, old quarries, woods and meadows. There are ten independent houses where about fifteen persons live all-year long.

    We are painter and sculptor.
    The hamlet used to host artists in residency and proposed plenty of cultural events in many different fields: music, theater, fine arts, dance, circus...
    A park opened to public all-year long, called le Jardin habité, showcases installations, sculptures, cabanes and some other marks left behind by the artist who participated to the residency.
    With our non-profit organisation, we organize two times a year an event. It consists in a week-end of sharing and meeting. It's an occasion to show our last artistic works and invite others visual artists, musicians, dancers, performers... and have fun. They happen during the last week-ends of april and september.

    In our greenhouse and vegetable garden we grow some vegetables for our self-sufficiency and for the volunteers and friends passing by.
    A really classy chicken house is inhabited by seven delighted chickens. We apply permaculture principles within everything we start doing, for the long term respect toward the Earth and all (animals, humans and plants) its inhabitants. We never plough the soil but use permanent wood chips cover or any organic material.

    We also perpetuate a certain number of knowledges and skills, making our own bread, conserve, stewed fruit, chutneys, granola, pesto, chili and many others according to our desires and the season.

    We have hosted volunteers for twenty years, some of them became our friends, have been living on the farm for years, and share with us some activities, meals… and will greet you beside us.
    We look for people willing to stay for about 10 days minimum, a month maximum, who are curious, interested by art, enthusiastic, practical, speaking enough French to follow conversations and willing to improve it.

    You will prepare the next festival, maintain the Jardin Habité ( weeding, mulching...), help the artistes id necessery, cook bread, pick wild herbs and salad ... You may also use the opportunity to create if you feel like inspired !
    You have to speak french, even if we can speak english if necessary.

    BONJOUR !
    NOUS RECHERCHONS DE L'AIDE DU 8 AU 30 AVRIL 2025 POUR PRÉPARER NOTRE JARDIN À ACCUEILLIR NOTRE FESTIVAL ARTISTIQUE.Vous avez à parler français, même si nous pouvons parler anglais en cas de nécessité.

    Nous sommes un couple, Michel et Hélène, propriétaires une ancienne ferme que nous avons entièrement rénovée.
    Le hameau est situé à 20 minutes d'Angoulême, près de la Dordogne, sur un magnifique site avec rivière, sources, anciennes carrières, bois, prés… Il comprend une dizaine de logements indépendants où habitent à l'année une quinzaine de personnes.

    Nous sommes peintre et sculpteur.
    Jadis le hameau a proposé beaucoup d'événements dans toutes les disciplines artistiques. Aujourd’hui, un parc, le Jardin Habité, accueille des installations, sculptures, cabanes et autres traces des artistes qui sont passés en résidence.
    Avec notre association, nous organisons désormais deux week-ends par an, un festival. C’est un temps de partage et de rencontre, occasion de montrer nos derniers travaux artistiques et d’inviter d'autres plasticiens, musiciens, danseurs, performeurs… pour passer un bon moment. Ils ont lieu les derniers week-end d'avril et de septembre.

    Dans notre serre et notre potager nous cultivons des légumes pour nous, les volontaires et les amis de passage. Un poulailler est habité par une dizaine de poules bienheureuses. Nous appliquons les principes de la permaculture dans le respect de la Terre et de tous ceux (animaux, humains et végétaux) qui l'habitent. Pas de travail du sol et paillages constants : bois déchiqueté (BRF), feuilles, herbes...
    Nous perpétuons aussi un certain nombre de savoir-faire : pain, confitures, conserves, etc. selon les envies et les saisons.

    Nous accueillons des volontaires depuis 20 ans, certains sont devenus nos amis.
    Nous recherchons des gens disposés à rester entre dix jours et un mois, curieux, intéressés par l'art, volontaires avec un bon sens pratique, parlant assez le français pour suivre une conversation et ayant envie de faire des progrès.

    Vous serez amenés à participer à l’organisation du prochain festival, éventuellement à aider les artistes du festival, à entretenir le Jardin habité, à aider dans les activités potagères.
    Vous dormirez dans des chambres ou des cabanes et partagerez tous nos repas que nous préparons à tour de rôle.
    Vous avez à parler français, même si nous pouvons parler anglais en cas de nécessité.

    We love to share about all arts, and we have a huge library of art books, french comics and movies. We have a video projector and watch movies almost every night.
    We also have knowledge about gardening, permaculture, cooking.
    We ask help before and during small festivals we organise to times a year, which workayers are invited to attend.

    Nous aimons partager avec les visiteurs notre amour de tous les arts. Nous avons une grande bibliothèque de livres d'arts, BD et films. Nous avons un vidéoprojeteur et regardons des films presque chaque soir. Nous avons aussi une bonne connaissance en cuisine, jardinage et permaculture. Nous demandons de l'aide avant en pendant les deux festivals que nous organisons chaque année, et auquels les volontaires peuvent assister, voire participer s'ils ont une pratique artistique...
