Description
I'm originally from Berlin, worked in tourism and events and decided 11 years ago to emigrate to Latvia to start a "new" life here.
I am living mostly self-sufficient. There is a large garden, a herd of goats, chickens and rabbits (all animals have more exercise and space than organic and Demeter regulations require).
Everything I cannot produce myself (hay, wheat and oats for the animals; hemp seeds and buckwheat for ourselves) I buy or exchange with our neighbor just 8 km away.
I live in harmony with nature and avoid all chemical agents, fertilizers, etc. The stable manure goes into the compost, which we later spread in the garden. Manure and mixed crops strengthen and protect our plants from excessive infestation by predators.
All of this allows me to not only supply ourselves with food, but also to deliver some to a small farm shop for regional products.
I can also provide summer guests with delicious breakfasts and dinners.
In summer there are 3 guest houses and parking spaces for mobile homes and campers.
Here too, as far as possible in tourism, I try to protect nature and keep the impact as low as possible.
In addition to all the work around the farm, we take a lot of time for our guests and use the opportunity to learn more about how we interact with nature.
During the year there are several works which need to be done:
Spring:
Baby goats are born and need to be taken care of; milk is running again and cheese needs to be made.
The garden needs to be prepared to grow fruits and vegetables.
Guest houses and the entire territory will be prepared for tourism season.
Summer:
The main tasks are gardening and animal care.
Autumn:
Finally fruits and vegetables can be harvested and replenish supplies for the winter.
Winter:
Time for forest work. Felling trees, chopping wood and replenishing the firewood.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We offer a pleasant and stressless stay in the quiet and seclusion of nature. Living and working in the holiday complex and on the farm offers new tasks and impressions every day. The animals want to be taken care of, the projects in the forest offer numerous opportunities to let your creativity run wild. In addition, we have many guests from different countries.
Help
Spring:
- the goats want to go back to pasture after a long winter. Therefor electric fences need to be stretched
- the goat's stable must be cleared after the winter
- a new compost needs to be built
...
Summer:
The most of my personal work and time in summer is to take care of guests and tourists.
I am looking for someone who can help with all works around the farm:
- feed the goats and muck them out
- cut the lawn
- gardening
- cooking, help in the house
...
Autumn / Winter:
- chop wood
- gather leaves
- preparations for the upcoming season
We are not looking for any help regarding working with tourists.
