*** URGENT HELP NEEDED FROM 28. MAY TO 1. JUNE***
Right now, we urgently need help with plastering the inside walls with cob.

    About us:

We are a family of six (Laima, Alexej, Aiko and Yuuki as well as our dog Princi Pessa and cat Kūmas) living in a beautiful, remote mountain region of Central Portugal, near a rushing river. Our home is an old stone ruin that we’re renovating.

We love art, music, poetry, self expression. Alexej works as a programmer, likes drumming, producing his own electronic music as well as doing sports, parkour and skateboarding in particular. Laima is a visual artist, studying communication design but also drawing and painting, experimenting with natural pigments, sewing, dyeing with natural colors, always open for something new and experimental.

Our children Aiko (7) and Yuuki (4) are both vivid and wild souls. They generally love to have guests and connect with them. They like to go out in nature, go crazy on the trampoline and swings, paint and craft, help with cooking. Yuuki is a breakdance enthusiast and Aiko is a volcano of creativity always coming up with new ideas.

Regarding the house and the land we strive for creative ways of building. We try to avoid conventional building materials whenever possible, so we build a lot with cob, lime and local wood. In the future we would love to cultivate a natural garden, cut back the invasive and overgrown plants, build natural guest and community houses.

Apart from that we love good food and friendly company! We are vegan/vegetarian and enjoy cooking and baking together. It is important for us to live consciously, so we don't take any drugs or other substances.

In this process of turning the old ruin into an authentic home and the desolate land into whimsical space, you’ll be part of an evolving project in a very tranquil, scenic setting. While we can’t offer luxury, we promise a warm and welcoming environment—with a loving dog and cat for company.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Help

Right now, we urgently need help with plastering the inside walls with cob. It involves digging up the clay from the land, mixing it with sand and bringing it on the walls. It is an intense but fun building process, as you can work with bare hands and feet. You don't need to bring any experience with it.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

For accommodation, you can either stay in a room within our stone house or stay in a tent (you have to bring one) by the rushing river, where you'll be completely surrounded by nature. Mattress, blanket and sheets inclusive.

We have running water, toilet and electricity in the house but no shower yet. There's a washing machine that you can use.

Generally we cook and eat together (vegetarian) but its never a must. If you want you can always contribute to cooking. From time to time we will go shopping in the supermarket or local grocery market. You can join the shopping if you like.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The location is very quite and not so touristic. Our place is surrounded by beautiful nature, mountain views and is directly connected to the river Alge. If you are looking to retreat from the stress of the city you will definetely come to the right place. The atmospheric sound here is created by the flow of the river, singing birds and the wind. You can go for walks to explore mountain paths and nearby old-fashioned villages. Also a lot of beautiful and powerful nature spots as well as interesting cultural places are awaiting you with just half an hour drive! Mountaintops of Serra da Lousa, waterfalls of Pedra de Ferida and Fragas de Sao Simao... and so on. Apart from that, you could also take a look in other projects around, for example alternative schools, or visit local artisan markets.
