Description
Our farm is a home to Jirka (50), his 4 homeschooled children and a farming student Hana (25). We are based in the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area, surrounded by beautiful forests, meadows and rocky walls with breathtaking views.
Our long term goal is to build a self sufficient community and live in harmony with nature.
Jirka loves writing poetry, playing the piano, sleeping outside rain or shine, cycling, hiking and growing his own grains which he later turns into home made sourdough bread.
Hana loves reading about nature and spirituality, hiking, rock climbing, cooking, singing, painting, dancing and playing piano or guitar by the fire.
Only 1 son is present at the moment, the rest of the children are now abroad.
PS.: volunteers wont be helping with any tasks related to our business.

UN sustainability goals this host is trying to achieve

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We would love to share with Workawayers our passion for nature and organic farming. Everything we grow here on our farm we grow without harmful chemicals and with respect to all living creatures. We think that a healthy food starts with a healthy soil, so we are very keen to learn from you about different permaculture and regenerative practices and also share our knowledge with you.
We hope to meet like-minded people from different parts of the world that care about our planet and would enjoy spending some time with us and making our vision of a sustainable homestead come alive.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
We would very much appreciate some help with maintaining our homestead, gardening, cooking, preserving food for winter and also taking care of our horses.
Everyday chores that volunteers can participate in:
- grooming our horses, giving them fresh water, letting them out on the pasture, mucking out their manure
- weeding and watering our vegetable beds
- preparing meals and maintaining the kitchen
For year 2026 we would love to accomplish these goals:
- Preserve enough food from our gardens to sustain us all winter (sun drying, canning, freezing,..)
- build a chicken tractor for 20 chickens
- chop enough wood for the upcoming winter
- plant a garden bed with perennial flowers and medicinal herbs
- plant a fruit orchard
- build a new polytunnel

Hana is interested in learning Spanish or Italian and practicing Russian. Jirka would love to practice his English and German.
Accommodation
Accommodation is provided in a spacious yurt with fireplace. You will have access to a mobil home which serves as a common room with a kitchen and a bathroom.
We prepare our (mostly vegetarian) meals mainly from our own garden produce. Meat and eggs are sourced from local organic farms. As we grow our own grains and mill our own flour, we would love to teach you everything we know about sourdough baking.
Our volunteers will have 3 big meals a day and always an access to food if they decide to have a snack in between the meals. We will prepare the food either together or separately depending on the situation.
What else ...
In your free time you can borrow one of our bikes, or hike up to Broumov Walls or take a train to the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks. There are also many cultural events and concerts in the city.
What you should know about us is that we are a non-smoking and non-alcoholic household (except for a beer on special occasions).
