    Description

We live on 15 acres on Salt Spring Island, where we are in the early stages of shaping the land for a future farm. Alongside this, we have an established garden near our glamping area that we would love support maintaining.

We are currently looking for help with a variety of outdoor tasks, including clearing areas of the property (gathering twigs, assisting with clearing broom that has become a bit overgrown on the land, and cutting firewood), as well as gardening and general upkeep around the glamping area.

Please note that this is not a business or a paid position. We are simply looking to exchange accommodation and experience for your helping hands and support with the property.

Our land sits beside the Mount Tuam Ecological Reserve—a truly beautiful and peaceful setting surrounded by forest, with lakes, trails, and waterfalls nearby.

At the moment, our lifestyle is quite simple and connected to the outdoors. We have an outdoor kitchen, an Airstream where we stay, and a large bell tent for guests. It’s a special way of living, and we genuinely enjoy sharing it with others.

We’ll also be welcoming a new puppy, so occasional help with her would be appreciated.

Accommodation is rustic but thoughtfully considered—a furnished bell tent will be your space. We can provide a wood stove for warmth, and there is also electricity available for an electric heater if needed. Creating beautiful, comfortable environments is important to me (I’m an interior designer), so the space will feel intentional and well cared for.

We are a warm, active, and social couple who value community, good humor, and a healthy, balanced lifestyle. We love good food, meaningful connection, and spending time with friends and family on the land.

We’re looking for someone (or a couple) who is kind, open, and reliable—with a strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude. Ideally, you enjoy being outdoors, are physically capable, and appreciate contributing to a shared environment.

The trails around the property are largely unmarked and known mostly to locals—but they are incredible, and we’re always happy to show you.

You will get to experience what it’s like to be part of the early stages of creating a homestead—clearing the land, and working together as a team to transform raw land into a functioning homestead.

We gather for outdoor dinners in a covered kitchen and outdoor living area, beside a beautiful garden immersed in a forest setting—fully connected to nature.

We enjoy sharing meals when possible, particularly breakfast and dinner, as we feel it is a wonderful part of the cultural exchange experience. There will also always be food available in the fridge and pantry for Workawayers to prepare their own meals and snacks as needed.
