    Description

We have sold our BC farm and will be moving to Nova Scotia shortly, once there we will want work away people to help set up our new place and get settled. We might even have room for one person to travel across Canada with us (but not a gaurantee at this point). We have had to sell all of our cows and goats, etc and will only be taking horses, once there and once we have the facilities we will be adding more farm animals (enough to be self sustaining only).
We are again accepting wokawayers; but you must have been immunized against covid and can show us proof of that. We can discuss our expectations of guests regarding covid safety prior to arriving here.
We are a GAY COUPLE living in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. We own a small hobby farm. We are looking for people from other countries to come stay with us and experience life on a small self-sustaining type hobby farm. We have 3 dairy cows and 3 babies (we don't milk them; we let them keep their babies , two goats, miniature(one mare with a new foal) and large horses, poultry and livestock guardian dogs. We enjoy meeting people from other cultures and countries. All our animals love any affection they can get!

We are looking for help on our farm in caring for our animals, doing projects around the farm, , helping with household chores, occasionally cooking a meal, and assisting us in keeping the farm yard clean. YOU MUST LOVE ANIMALS AND WANT TO LEARN ABOUT THEM (we love teaching you about the animals and how to care for them, this is every important - if you do not take an interest in our animals then you won't fit in well)...this is very important if you want to stay with us; if your uncomfortable around animals then our farm is not for you. We want you to be able to speak and understand English (we are ok with it being your second language, but you must have a good understanding of the English language so that you can safely take directions). Please do not send us messages unless they are in English, sending messages in your native language disrespectful given we have politely asked to correspond in English.

We cannot accept families with children or pets of any kind.
We do not allow illegal drugs, smoking or vaping on our property.
Due to illegal activity on our internet account by a previous work away guest, we only offer limited internet access.
Unfortunately we have to also add that any abuse to our animals will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave immediately (yes we have had someone hit our dog!)

The majority of people who come stay with us love it on our farm and we have a lot of fun (many come back several times using our farm as their base from which they explore BC and return to until their next adventure.)

You can expect to be up at about 6:30 ish every morning to assist with feeding animals (chores only take about 45 mins or less). Then we come in for breakfast and the rest of the morning is spent on projects or going back to bed and doing other projects later in the morning ( with breaks of course) then again assisting with evening chores. It sounds like a lot, but it isn't . We do encourage everyone to take breaks and go explore the area. It is beautiful here with lots of hiking, fishing, swimming etc. and skiing in the winter; we are close to Vernon. You will usually not work to hard (expect when it comes to some barn cleaning, thats about as heavy as it gets and that is only occasionally, and we help with that) . And we definitely do not exploit our guests and on the rare occasion that you work more than 5 hours, you will work less the following day. We encourage you to take your two days a week to explore. We look forward to meeting you.
    Stew and Tony

The one thing about our farm is YOU MUST LOVE ANIMALS AND WANT TO LEARN ABOUT THEM.... Our animals are very important and close to us. If you have any carpentry experience you will be a very welcome addition to our farm as we do have animals shelters that will be putting up. You are guaranteed to learn a lot while you are here.
