    Description

We are a GAY COUPLE living in Richard, Saskatchewan, Canada. We are renting a small farm unitl we can buy our own as soon as one comes up. We are looking for people from OTHER COUNTRIES to come stay with us and experience life on a small self-sustaining type hobby farm. At the moment we have 6 horses ranging in size from minatures to full size (we don't allow anyone to ride our horses), and 4 dogs, 2 cats ( indoor only; they are not allowed outside). We also have several goats, and chickens.
We are looking for help on our hobby farm in caring for our animals, doing projects around the farm, we are currently cleaning our barn, you will also be helping with household chores, occasionally cooking a meal, a. YOU MUST LOVE ANIMALS AND WANT TO LEARN ABOUT THEM (we love teaching you about the animals and how to care for them, this is every important - if you do not take an interest in our animals then you won't fit in)...this is very important if you want to stay with us; if your uncomfortable around animals then our farm is not for you. We want you to be able to speak and understand English (we are ok with it being your second language, but you must have a good understanding of the English language so that you can safely take directions). Please do not send us messages unless they are in English, sending messages in your native language is disrespectful given we have politely asked to correspond in English. Also please be able to physically and mentally be fit enough to be of benefit as some tasks do require physical strength.

We cannot accept families with children or pets of any kind.
We do not allow illegal drugs, smoking or vaping on our property.
Due to illegal activity on our internet account by a previous work away guest, we only offer limited internet access.
Unfortunately we have to also add that any abuse to our animals will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave immediately (yes we have had someone hit our dog!). And if your unkind to us, then you will also be asked to leave immediately (yes that has happened as well).

You will learn a lot about farm animals esp goats, a lot about gardening and flowers, and sustainability and likely learn a bit about cooking if you want. We welcome anyone who wants to do a little cooking from your country.

A normal day on our farm would be to get up in the mornings to assist with feeding animals, then come in and sleep in a bit more or have breakfast. We are in the midst of winter here at the moment so mostly we are in coast mode, but soon will be getting ready for spring. At the moment we are cleaning up the barn and making more pens for our goats and a enclosure for our racing pigeons.

    What else ...

The majority of people who came to stay with us loved it on our farm, and we have a lot of fun (many came back several times using our farm as their base from which they explore, and return to until their next adventure).
We start the day off with morning chores(morning and evening chores usually take 30 mins); Then we come in for breakfast and the rest of the morning is spent on projects ( with breaks of course) then again assisting with evening chores. It sounds like a lot, but it isn't . We do encourage everyone to take breaks and go explore the area, It is beautiful here with lots of hiking, fishing, swimming, lakes etc. and we are close to North Battleford and Saskatoon. We are also close to Prince Albert National Park. Lots of fishing here, and a local ski hill. This area is not a vacation spot, so you may need to google a list of things to do and see. We are not far from the North Saskatchewan River which is beautiful and can be fished as well (but not recommended to swim in as the currents are dangerous). Lots of beautiful lakes around as well with good fishing. At any time of the year, you can expect to see the northern borealis (northern lights as we call them). They are spectacular, esp in fall and winter, but are beautiful all year round. The Canadian prairies are truly 4 season! Right now we are in the midst of winter, it can be cold, but it is beautiful with all the snow and frost. Its not as cold as you may think, and there is always a reason to go outside and enjoy the winter sun!
