    Description

We live in Shankill, in a suburb of Dublin on the south side of the city. We are really close to the sea and the mountains are only about 15 minute drive away. There is a lot of space around our home, and the village of Shankill is pretty and local. We are a 40 minute train journey into Dublin city centre, and the station is a 5 minute walk from our home. So, the best of both worlds.
We are a couple who are retired, Clare and Paul and our son and daughter live here too. They are working full time so we are looking for someone who likes animals and would be happy to look after them, two walks a day if possible if we are away travelling.
Our two dogs, Juno and Otis are in their elderly-ish years, at the time of writing they are 10 and 11. Juno is a Lab, such a sweet dog, and super gentle. Otis is a collie cross, we rehomed him, and he is great, but maybe a little more complicated than Juno. We have a cat too, who is 15 and does his own thing. He is in the house in the day, and out at night.
All the animals are in good health and they love getting out and about.
We would consider two guests, as a couple, as the room offered is a double room.
We are hoping to travel abroad in October so would be interested in offering a stay in our home for some time Sept - Oct.
    All enquiries welcome:)

There is a lot on in Dublin in the summer, festivals and so on. We are an active family and are part of a local running group, so if that suited someone who loves running. Lots of walks locally.

    Help

We are looking for someone to be here when we travel to look after the dogs and walk them maybe twice a day. They usually get a decent hour or so walk in the morning and a short one later in the day. We don't want them to be left at home for hours, but respect that the Work Away guest will want a life too!!

There may be some light house work to do hoovering, mopping the floor for example. Just to help out as we would ourselves in the house:)

This host offers a language exchange
Clare is trying to learn Spanish - so she is happy to do a Spanish/English language exchange but if I am away that will not be possible, perhaps a few days around when we travel?:)

    Accommodation

We have a double room with a double bed, with two windows. There is a toilet and sink beside this room, and then a large shower which would be shared. The kitchen is large and the guest would be welcome to make food for themselves if they like, otherwise it would be family eating together. We have meat eaters and a vegetarian in our home.

    What else ...

We don't have many house rules, except that we would prefer no friends to stay over. There will be other people living in the house at the same time, our daughter is a children's nurse, and may be working nights. Our son is a graphic designer and works part at home, part in the office.

    Smudge

Smudge is now 15 years old. He is in pretty good shape. He sleeps in our pantry and has a cat flap to use at night. He is allowed into the house and likes to hang out with us during the day.

    Juno - Aged 12!

    Otis - Aged 10 (11 years)

Otis is a Collie Cross, not as relaxed as Juno. He is a great dog, really loyal but he is not crazy about other dogs, except for his sister Juno. We rehomed him, and put a lot of work into socializing him, - he has come a long way and really tries to please people. He loves people, just not other dogs so much.
