Description
Kia ora and welcome to our little corner of paradise in Queenstown, New Zealand!
We’re a friendly, active couple living in Kelvin Heights, a beautiful, peaceful part of Queenstown overlooking Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by mountains.
We love the outdoors, gardening, hiking, cycling, cooking delicious food and enjoying everything this spectacular region has to offer.
Our home has established gardens, productive vegetable beds and a tunnel house where we grow much of our own seasonal produce. We enjoy growing, harvesting and preparing fresh food, and there’s always something happening in the garden!
We share our home with Stella, our lovely four-year-old Lagotto. She’s a little shy when meeting new people, but once she gets to know you, she’s incredibly affectionate and loves cuddles.
We’re also involved in local conservation and environmental projects and care deeply about protecting the beautiful natural environment around us.
We enjoy meeting people from different countries, learning about their lives and cultures, and sharing stories over good food.
We offer a comfortable, welcoming home and a genuine cultural exchange. We love having people stay who are independent, practical, hardworking and happy to contribute to the everyday rhythm of our household.
If you enjoy gardening, being outdoors, sharing good food and experiencing life in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful locations, we’d love to hear from you! -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We enjoy sharing our love of gardening, sustainable living, healthy cooking and the outdoors. We’re actively involved in local conservation projects and are happy to introduce interested visitors to our community.
We love learning about other cultures, exchanging ideas and hearing about people’s travels and experiences. Sharing meals and good conversation is an important part of hosting for us.
We hope our Workawayers leave with wonderful memories of Queenstown, some new friendships and a genuine experience of everyday Kiwi life. -

Help
We’re looking for a friendly, practical and hardworking couple to help us with gardening and general household tasks, usually for stays of around one week.
We have a large, established garden and productive vegetable beds, so there’s always plenty to do, particularly during spring and summer.
Gardening tasks may include:
* Weeding and mulching vegetable and ornamental gardens
* Pruning flax and other established shrubs
* General garden maintenance and seasonal pruning
* Preparing vegetable beds for planting
* Tidying garden areas and helping keep everything looking beautiful
Indoor tasks may include:
* Spring cleaning and general household cleaning
* Cleaning windows and other occasional household projects
* Helping with meal preparation and kitchen clean-up
We particularly appreciate people who have previous gardening experience, know how to use basic garden tools safely and can recognise the difference between a weed and a treasured plant!
Some tasks we’ll do together, while others you’ll be able to tackle independently once we’ve explained what’s needed.
What we’re looking for
We’re happiest hosting people who are genuinely motivated, have a positive attitude and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done.
We value people who:
* Have practical gardening experience
* Are reliable, hardworking and show initiative
* Can work independently without constant supervision
* Are happy to help with both outdoor and indoor tasks
* Enjoy cooking and sharing meals
* Have good references from previous Workaway or similar hosts
Hours and expectations
We ask for approximately four hours of help per person per day, five days a week, plus some shared meal preparation and kitchen clean-up as part of normal household life.
In return, we provide comfortable accommodation, delicious healthy vegetarian meals and a warm, welcoming home.
We want this to be a positive experience for everyone, with plenty of time for you to explore Queenstown and the surrounding region. -

Accommodation
You’ll have your own lovely, comfortable bedroom with a queen-sized bed, quality linen and a large picture window overlooking Deer Park Heights and the surrounding mountains. You’ll also have your own private bathroom.
Our home is warm, spacious and welcoming, with beautiful views and plenty of places to relax.
We provide delicious, healthy vegetarian meals, often using fresh produce from our garden. We enjoy cooking and eating together and welcome your help in the kitchen, especially if you’d like to share a favourite dish from your home country!
We want you to feel at home during your stay and enjoy a comfortable, relaxing base from which to explore Queenstown. -
What else ...
Our home is in peaceful Kelvin Heights, approximately 15 minutes’ drive from central Queenstown. We’re close to beautiful lakeside walking and cycling trails, a golf course and the stunning Remarkables mountain range.
There’s plenty to explore in your free time, including hiking, biking, swimming and sightseeing. Having your own vehicle is an advantage, although public transport and a passenger ferry are available nearby.
We lead a healthy, active lifestyle and enjoy a relaxed, peaceful home. We’re non-smokers and appreciate guests who are tidy, considerate and respectful of our home.
We generally prefer stays of around one week and particularly welcome couples with previous hosting references. -
