We are a family of five with three girls aged 13, 9 and 6. We live in a very rural but very beautiful part of West Cork about 6 miles from the town of Dunmanway. Cormac works in the marine sector and Ita works part time four mornings a week. We have a recently extended farmhouse and a very sprawling presently overgrown garden that is shared between ourselves, a cat and plenty of wildlife. Our girls are great fun and they love swimming and outdoor adventures.
Our family really enjoys having visitors and sharing our way of life. Our children are very active and we would include visitors in our daily routine.
We would love some help with reclaiming our garden following our recent building project. We have raised beds that need digging, paths need to be laid around the raised beds, clearing of stones so grass can be laid and cut, chopping wood, strimming, clearing of briars, ivy and some weeding and planting. We also have some small carpentry projects should a volunteer posess those skills. This project would be approx 2 weeks.
A little French
Our accommodation is a double room upstairs in a garage, separate from the house. There is heating available and the most amazing night sky views you are likely to see! We look forward to chatting over mealtimes.
We can only accept non-smoking volunteers. As we are rurally based it may suit a couple to stay with us and it may be isolating for someone while we are out a lot of the day. Our kids are very chatty so you would need to enjoy children's company....
