Description
Hi I'm Deven, part owner and the manager of our beautiful lodge in French River Ontario. The lodge is family owned and operated, and we celebrated our 100 anniversary last year. We have 8 waterfront cabins, as well as the main lodge. The cabins often need maintenance work on them. We have about 5 acres so there is always yard work to be done. Cutting grass, raking leaves, trimming weeds, stocking firewood, the list goes on and on. We also have a small ice cream and food truck that gets quite busy on the weekend.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Staying at our lodge in Northern Ontario offers Workawayers a unique cultural exchange experience in the heart of Canada’s wilderness. As part of our team, they will be welcomed like family, sharing stories, and daily activities with us. We offer hands-on learning in areas such as hospitality, outdoor skills, and maintenance, while also encouraging Workawayers to share their own knowledge and experiences. Through meaningful interactions, they will gain insight into Canadian traditions, local Indigenous culture, and the natural environment. In return, we hope to learn from their perspectives, traditions, and skills, creating a mutually enriching experience that fosters lifelong connections.

Help
These are the 5 main categories that we are looking for help with throughout our season. Our spots for workaways is limited, so we are looking for candidates who can help in multiple areas.
Housekeeping -We have 8 cabins at the lodge. In July and August the cabins are booked on a weekly bases from Saturday to Saturday. We need help cleaning the cabins and making up the beds with fresh linens when our guests check out each Saturday. We only have 3-4 hours before the next guests arrive, so the cabins need to be cleaned quickly and efficiently. The main lodge needs general cleaning and there is always a load of laundry to be done. This can be done throughout the week as we prepare for the next Saturday.
The Grounds - There is always tasks to be done and projects on the go. Grass cutting, weed trimming, raking, stocking firewood for nightly bonfires, gassing up boats for our guests as well as customers who arrive via boat from the lake.
Ice Cream Shop-Everyone loves ice cream and picking out the perfect souvenir so our ice cream and gift shop is always busy. We need help serving customers whether scooping ice cream, getting them the size they need in a hoodie, or cashing them out. It's very important that each customer feels welcome and appreciated so a friendly outgoing personality is a must.
Cantina Food Truck - Our small lakeside restaurant is the lakes favourite spot to grab a bite! We serve food truck fare with a twist, using locally sourced products. Customers can enjoy their meal on our spacious outdoor patio overlooking the lake or they may take it go and enjoy it on their boat. We are open on Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun. and it's a busy place especially during peak hours. We need help on the cash, restocking beverages, wiping down tables, plating, prepping and if you have a flair for cooking that too. We get to know our customers on a first name bases so a friendly outgoing personality is a must. It's a fast paced environment. Do you have experience working in a kitchen? Be sure to let us know!
Social Media - We would love to have a bigger social media presence. The lodge is so busy that there is lots of possibilities for content. If you have background in this be sure to let us know!
