Description
Update MERRY MICKMAS If looking for a place to celebrate the festive season,
Hi there Mick here from Shark Creek.in the beautiful Clarence Valley, where over 50% of the shire is Nat. Park or nature reserves, from beaches, rivers( Clarence river -the biggest on east coast of Aust)
I am a single retired 50ish Aussie on an 100 acre off grid paradise. Home amongst the gumtrees. I am creating a self sufficient lifestyle based on permaculture , organic and reduce, reuse, recycle principles. A simple life with nature. Peaceful with fresh air and no traffic lights. My kind of life.
Totally off grid on solar power, rain water and composting toilets . Ideally you want to learn about this type of lifestyle and are an outdoor type who loves nature. Plenty of walks and have a few bikes you can use too. If it air conditioning and endless hot water and flushing toilets you expect, then this ain’t for you, lol. I am 15 minutes from the nearest town Maclean so your own transport is a bonus if you wish to explore on your own. There is no public transport. Saying that I can show you around too. You help me and I help you.
Casual easy going with an emphasis on smiles, laughs and enjoyment . Helping out. It is a lifestyle not a job.
I have been involved with Wwoofers for 34 years since starting the first Nimbin backpacker eco-tours from Byron bay in 1990 to 2003 Clarence valley has more natural wonders, friendlier people and less traffic and rivers and better beaches I reckon.
I need help with , gardens ,building, maintenance and care of my pets-3 dogs, 2 sheep presently. Very casual work program , 4 hands are better than 2 as they say. Being a hobby farm there is no schedule really we work around the weather too. In summer it’s too hot in the middle of the day
Life is to be lived, enjoyed and by supplying my own needs like water, solar power, food etc I become less reliant on external sources- self sufficient equal less control/reliance on others. Which means more freedom?, the more you want the less you are free.
There is wildlife like the rare and threatened coastal Emu, kangaroos, Goannas, Kookaburras, Brolgas and more all around and great local trails to explore. Mountain biking or hiking
30 minutes to the beaches of Yamba and Broomshead by car. I am situated in a great location to explore the Mighty Clarence Valley .
Can teach you to surf, fish , light and cook on fires, building to environmental education. Drive a tractor to safely using a chainsaw
I have a BSc Environmental Science so can teach you about Mother Earth our home that needs more respect and am doing my bit to improve my environment.
So if you want a true blue Aussie adventure come say Gidday
Comfortable private room with double bed or your own caravan. No wifi as I just use my mobile data
