Description
I am Jan, originally from Hamburg. I always liked the countryside better since my childhood memories in a small village in Steiermark, Austria. I used to rather hang out in the nearby park then going to school and spent my life mostly on organic farms and in Community where I learned several skills as vegetable gardening, baking and construction.
I live in Bavaria close to the Czech border in a small town and work in a local hardware store. I try to spend as much time as possible at my late mom's house at the Silver Coast between Sao Martinho do Porto and Nazaré. My parents built the house some 25 years ago with a lot of care and love for details. It has a big garden and partly wild property with an old mill on the hillside. My goal is to bring everything into a good condition in order to maybe rent it out to chosen people during the season. I plan to make the mill inhabitable and maybe even build a tiny house somewhere. There is a lot of garden tasks to do from pruning pine trees, weeding flower beds and brush cutting.
I would like to also do some sports like padel tennis, hiking, swimming, etc. together. We can cook and bake together and there is a daily market in town with fresh produce.
I appreciate having fellowship while working together and talking about things in life that really matter. My goal is to create some synergy effect with you so I believe it's important that we fit to each other and that there is a good balance of giving and taking!Types of help and learning opportunities

The Silver Coast is one of the greatest places in Europe to spend any time of the year as the climate is very mild. Sao Martinho has a nice bay for swimming and there are several wild beaches very close to the house. Nazaré famous for the giant waves is ten kilometers away and there is lot of other places to discover.
You will have some exchange with locals and can learn Portuguese, come to know the local foods and countryside as well as famous cities and castles of the area.
I like baking, Yerba Mate, healthy and tasty foods, movies and documentaries, playing some guitar and mandolin and listening to music (Bluegrass, Old Time, Appalachian and Irish Folk mostly).Help
I am currently looking for a helper who would stay with me for the winter. I expect you to be clean and well mannered. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a good time but I am a bit sensitive to cursing. Also the house has a high standard interior so I try to be very carefull with the furniture etc. I don´t have time to clean after people so that I expect you to leave a place in a good condition.
It is very important that I don´t need to check on the hours agreed upon. I like to give freely but also expect the same in return. I don´t like to push people or have to wake them up constantly. There has to be an inward motivation so that the work can be fun.Languages

I started to learn Czech a bit, could teach German or improve your English if possible..Accommodation
I can provide you with a shared sleeping room with bathroom and two bed beds. Eventually we will have more living space outside the house or in the living room.
What else ...
I can pick you up in town at the bus stop. I will try to have some bikes there and I have a car we can use to do shopping and go to places. There is internet available in the house. If you like to take walks by the sea or hang out around the house or in the garden there is plenty of nice spots. We also have a pool and a little sauna cabin.
