    Description

Hello from the cosy village Falaën!

We are Elien (33) and Arno (34), an open-minded couple who love nature and animals, are interested in sustainable living and try to renovate our house using eco-friendly materials wherever possible.

We are looking for someone who enjoys helping out in a friendly environment and who:

    • enjoys practical tasks; • is willing to try new things; • has a positive and respectful attitude; and • respects our home and our animals.

We’re looking for someone who is motivated to help and eager to learn. Experience in renovation or gardening is a plus. :)

We are looking for some extra help with various small tasks around our house. The idea is to have an extra pair of hands to help with simple tasks, such as passing materials and assisting with small tasks. It's also about sharing experiences, enjoying some company, and creating a nice, dynamic atmosphere while helping together. We love exchanging life experiences and creating beautiful memories. It would be great to have an extra pair of hands (or two) to help with odd tasks that are tricky to do alone. Helping in a team is simply more fun than working alone all day!

Depending on the time of year, we are looking for help with maintaining the grounds and house. Possible activities include:

    - Gardening (trimming hedges, weeding, sowing and planting vegetables, etc.).
    - Small DIY projects and minor repairs (we try to use natural materials).
    - Help with household chores and cooking if necessary.
    - Taking care of the animals if necessary (sheep, chickens, dog and cats)

We are flexible with working hours and days off. We can arrange the schedule together, depending on the weather and what needs to be done. The idea is to work five hours a day with weekends off, but we are open to discussing what suits us both.

Ideally, you would stay for at least five days, giving us enough time to get some tasks done together while making sure there’s also plenty of time to relax and enjoy your stay. There will be free time every day, as well as days off depending on the help schedule.

In return for your help, we offer you a cosy, independent guest house with its own living area, kitchen and bathroom. You’ll have the entire place to yourself, with no shared spaces, giving you plenty of privacy and independence to relax and enjoy your stay.

Our peaceful location, surrounded by nature, provides the perfect setting in which to relax, recharge and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Falaën, the Vallée de la Molignée, Dinant and Maredsous.

Hugs from our cats and dog are also included :)

We speak Dutch, French and English.

If you think you would enjoy this, please get in touch and tell us a little about yourself.

We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming you to Falaën!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

When you stay with us, you're not just helping out, you're also sharing experiences, learning new skills, and discovering different cultures.

We’re happy to teach you practical skills, particularly those relating to eco-friendly DIY, sustainable renovation techniques, tool use and working with natural materials and products. We love sharing our knowledge, learning together, and discovering new ways of doing things.

Language practice is also welcome, but entirely optional. We speak English, Dutch and French.

At the same time, we’d love to learn from you, too! We enjoy hearing about your culture, your country, and how you see life. We believe that sharing our knowledge and experiences through stories, music, food or conversation makes a cultural exchange enriching for everyone involved.
