    UPDATE
LOOKING FOR CATSITTER FROM MAY 16 TO MAY 30

I will be traveling in Colombia from 16th of may until the 30th of May and I am looking for a couple, 2 friends or a single person who wants to stay in the house and take care of the cats and plants! Would be good, if you could arrive at 15th of may bc I will leave early on the 16th.

    -------

    Hi, I’m Anne from Germany.
I’ve been living in Colombia since 2021, currently in Jericó, a beautiful mountain village in the southwest of Antioquia.
Until 2 years ago, I lived on a small coffee farm here with my ex-husband, where I learned a lot about coffee growing and processing. After selling the farm and seperating from my husband, I stayed in Jericó because I truly fell in love with the place, its nature and its people. I am now renting a house outside the center of the village with my two cats, and I’m in a phase of looking for new inspiration and future projects.
I work as a German teacher (online) and I’m currently learning pottery, which might become a bigger creative project over time. I love working with my hands, being outdoors, and learning new skills. I’m especially interested in creative, sustainable and community-based projects.
Over the past years, I’ve built strong connections with locals here — coffee growers, artists, musicians, tour guides, hostel owners and many others. This has given me a deep insight into rural Colombian life and culture.
I’m open-minded, reliable, calm and curious, and I enjoy both working independently and being part of a team. I appreciate honest communication, simple living, and meaningful exchanges.
Jericó and its surroundings have taught me a lot about patience, nature and community — and I’m excited to keep learning wherever I go next.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying here is less about sightseeing and more about everyday life in a small Colombian village. Travelers will experience what daily life in Jericó really looks like — the rhythms of a rural community, the importance of neighbors, and the close connection to nature.
Through simple daily interactions, shared meals, conversations and time spent in the village, cultural exchange happens very naturally. You’ll hear different perspectives, practice Spanish, and learn about local traditions, values and ways of living that you usually don’t find in guidebooks.
At the same time, I enjoy exchanging ideas, languages and experiences from different cultures, so it’s very much a two-way exchange.
This place is especially suitable for people who appreciate calm, reflection and a slower pace, and who are curious about understanding a culture from the inside rather than just passing through.

  • Help

    Help

I mainly offer accommodation in exchange for help with house and cat sitting when I'm not around, and occasional support around the house.
When I am traveling, the house and my two cats will be your responsibility. This mainly includes everyday tasks such as feeding and caring for the cats, watering plants, light weeding and keeping the house clean and tidy. If you stay while I am present, help is usually lighter and shared naturally.
One of my cats has a chronic flu. She doesn’t need any medication and is generally very well, but from time to time her little nose needs to be gently cleaned. It’s important to me that this is done with care and attention, so I’m looking for people who are comfortable with animals and attentive to their needs.

The house is located about a 30-minute walk from the village center of Jericó. It’s a very quiet and peaceful area with only a few neighbors, the owner living in an apartment underneath the house — ideal for people who enjoy nature and a slower rhythm. I’m always happy to share tips, experiences and what I’ve learned from living and traveling in Colombia.

I’m looking for reliable, responsible and tidy people who enjoy caring for a home and animals and who treat the space with respect, as if it were their own. Clear communication and mutual trust are very important to me.

I speak Spanish, German and English and enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The house is located about 2km from the village center in Jerico. On foot it takes 30min, by motorcycle or cab 5-10. The bedroom is suitable for 2 persons. Bathroom and kitchen are shared. There is a terrace and a large balcony to relax on. The area is very safe. I provide the accommodation and basics like oil and spices, all other food must be provided by yourself and can be prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. Wifi usually works well.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I ask that my home and everything in it is treated with respect and care.
If something gets damaged or broken, I expect it to be replaced or discussed openly.
The kitchen and basic items such as salt and oil can be used freely. Other groceries are to be bought individually, unless agreed otherwise in advance.
This is a quiet home in a calm neighborhood, so parties are not allowed and unannounced visitors are not welcome.
It’s very important to me that I find the house in the same condition as I left it — or better 😊

Mutual respect, honesty and clear communication are the basis for a good stay.
