    Description

This is a 501(c)3 Non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing pigs in need and providing the necessary care for our sanctuary animals. Located on Hawaii island, and nestled in the native ohia forest, our sanctuary provides a peaceful respite for animal and human alike. It is our mission to advocate for animal welfare, and practice kindness to all beings. We are 100% volunteer run and always in need of pig cuddlers and care-takers.

This organization was formed out of a need to help pigs in Hawaii. Wild pigs have become a real problem on the islands due to overpopulation. They pose a public health risk and risk to other native plant and animal species on the islands. We believe there are sustainable, and humane means to solving this problem and hope our sanctuary offers opportunities for people to meet pigs face to face. Have a personal experience with pigs and learn about the many traits that make them special.

Learn about pigs, Hawaiian culture, and animal care taking by volunteering at our sanctuary!

There are social activities where Workawayers can connect with other sanctuary volunteers, at this sanctuary and other animal sanctuaries on the island, as well as engage with the local community through our educational programs the sanctuary hosts.

We hope to learn from your cultural background and share the values and traditions of Hawaii with you during your stay.

We are looking for individuals who are self motivated, have a strong love for animals, enjoy new experiences, and have previous animal care taking experience. Someone with previous travel experience preferred. Volunteers should have an intrinsic love for the outdoors. The sanctuary is located in tropical paradise, but living in the tropics includes living with rain, humidity and heat.

We will need help feeding the pigs, changing their waters, grooming them, cuddling them, cleaning their barn, and bedding. We will also need help pruning trees and weeds in their pig play pen. You will also have an opportunity to learn carpentry skills if desired, as we continually building new shade structures and barns for the pigs and other animals of the sanctuary.
