  Description

  Hi! We are a Chinese family of three living in Osaka, Japan. My husband and I both work in education, and we have a 10-year-old son who is cheerful, curious and loves drawing, crafts, football and making things.
  
  We are a multilingual family. At home, we speak Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese and Teochew (Chaoshan dialect), while our son also speaks Japanese at school. So language and cultural exchange are already a natural part of our everyday life.
  
  We would love to welcome someone from another country into our home for a cultural and language exchange. We hope you can spend some time chatting, playing games or doing activities with our son in English, while also sharing your culture and everyday life with our family. In return, we would be happy to share our languages, Chinese culture and our experience of everyday life in Japan with you.
  
  We live in a quiet residential area of Osaka with convenient public transportation. Tennoji is only three subway stops away, and Umeda is about ten stops away. Kyoto and Nara are also easy to visit from here.
  
  You will have your own room, and we also have a bicycle that you can use to explore Osaka during your free time.
  
  We hope this will be more than just a place to stay. We would love it to be a relaxed cultural exchange where we can learn from each other, share our languages and cultures, and enjoy everyday life together.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  At home, we speak Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese and Teochew, and our son also speaks Japanese. If you are interested, we would be happy to share our languages, Chinese culture, food and everyday family life with you.
  
  We also hope to introduce you to everyday life in Osaka beyond the usual tourist experience. You can explore our local neighbourhood, parks, shops, markets and community life, and experience what it is like to live in a quiet residential area of Osaka.
  
  My husband and I both work in education, so we also enjoy exchanging ideas about education, children and life in different countries.
  
  Most importantly, we hope to learn from each other. We would love to hear about your country, culture, language, food and way of life, and for our son to grow up meeting people from different parts of the world.

  Help

  We are mainly looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with children and is happy to communicate naturally in English with our 10-year-old son as part of everyday life.
  
  No formal English teaching is required, and there is no need to prepare lessons or use textbooks. We would love for English to become a natural part of his everyday life through real conversations and time spent together.
  
  Our son attends elementary school. After school, he usually spends some time studying independently, playing with his friends, and following his own evening routine. He also goes to bed before 10 pm, so on weekdays, the amount of time he actually needs companionship is quite limited. When he is free, you might chat, draw, do crafts, play games, cook together, or simply spend some relaxed time together.
  
  Weekends are more important to us for spending time together, as there is much more free time. You might draw or make things together, cook, go to the park, take a walk, enjoy outdoor activities, or occasionally join us in experiencing everyday life around Osaka. We feel that these kinds of real-life experiences are a much more natural way for him to use English than sitting down for formal lessons.
  
  The schedule does not need to be exactly the same every day. Weekdays will generally be lighter, while weekends may involve more time together. We are looking for interaction and companionship around 5 days a week, and we can discuss the schedule in advance based on our son's plans and your own plans. You will also have your own free time and days off to explore Osaka, travel, study, work remotely, or simply relax.
  
  You are very welcome to share your own culture, hometown, food, music and interests with us as well. If you are interested in Chinese language or culture, we would also be happy to share that with you.
  
  We are not looking for an English teacher. What we hope for is someone our son can naturally communicate and spend time with in English as part of everyday life. For us, genuine communication, cultural exchange and a comfortable relationship are the most important things.

  Accommodation

  You will have your own private room in our family home. Our home is clean and comfortable, and located in a quiet residential area of Osaka.
  
  You are welcome to use the shared bathroom, kitchen and other common areas of the house. Wi-Fi is available, and we can also provide a bicycle for you to use during your stay.
  
  Meals are self-catered, so you will be responsible for your own food. You are welcome to use our kitchen and cooking facilities to prepare your meals. There are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby.
  
  We want you to feel comfortable and at home while also having your own private space and plenty of free time to explore Osaka and the surrounding area.

  We live in a quiet and convenient residential area of Osaka. Tennoji is only three subway stops away, and Umeda is about ten stops away. It is also easy to travel to Nara and Kyoto from here.
  
  You will have plenty of free time to explore on your own, and we can provide a bicycle for you to use during your stay.
  
  We are a relaxed family, but we value cleanliness, mutual respect and personal space. As we have a child at home, we appreciate a quiet and comfortable home environment, especially at night.
