Stunning stone house nestled in a beautiful garden and woods and surrounded by 1000 acres of Open Space and wild life. Seclusion at its best. We own a small farm with a garden and animals. The property sits on an old granite quarry that operated from the late 19th century until about the 1920s. The stone house was originally built as a dormitory for the quarry workers. We have a beautiful field at the bottom of the hill with a large army tent in the summer and beds in the house in the winter for our volunteer's sleeping arrangements. There is a bonfire pit and the space is surrounded by the gardens and woods. It bumps up against a bike path that goes down to a near by lake and continues all the way to Providence (about a two hour bike ride). The extra rooms in the house itself are rented out. Biking distance to anything you may need, the nearby town is about five miles from the property.
For animals we have 3 dogs, a donkey, a dairy calf, about 15 laying hens and still looking to expand.
We have a full time fire wood operation and a renovation project up the street.
We own a sailboat, so there may be opportunity there as well, in the summer months.
Day trips to Boston, Cape Cod, New York City, Newport, and Providence.
We are carefree, fun, creative people who love to have a good time, eat good food, and love to take care of this beautiful property. We hope to make the most of its abundant resources from gardening, stone, animals, firewood, and carpentry and we could use all the help we could get.

At this property you will have the opportunity to learn true home steading, creative entrepreneurial skills, being at home and working with your family and seeing what that entails, potential to see the sailing culture, a little more of a quiet isolated environment to unwind from the hustle of modern society and though technology is not restricted we encourage to unplug and engage while working together. You will have a family friendly environment where we eat some meals together and enjoy each other's company. Here you will be able to experience on a daily basis a more traditional culture that some seem to lost touch of.
We have a varity of projects and learning opportunities for all these and more, from picking up felled trees and managing burn piles, helping pruning and weeding the beautiful gardens, construction projects, whether building animal infrastructure or renovating a building, cleaning and tidying, chopping and stacking wood, feeding and caring for the animals.
We would love to educate and teach our volunteers to do any of these things and more, hoping you will find passion and joy in the tasks.
There are gardening and farmers market opportunities as well. We have an abundance of tools, equipment and resources. We are a family and enjoy working together as a family.
