Description
Summer 2024 will see the beginning of our permaculture project. We have a small piece of land where we will build our home, making it as self-sufficient and sustainable as possible (solar panels, water harvest, reuse of grey waters, etc.) and surrounded by a garden around the house using permaculture principles and a chicken house!
Located 5km from Pazin, it provides an ideal "isolated" and calm place within 5-10 minutes from all amenities.

Certainly our dialect of Croatian with a big Italian influence is something you won't see elsewhere!

Help
Help will vary from time to time but at the very beginning, we have in mind:
- Set up a good long term composting system
- Build a shed for tool and equipment storage
- Build a compostable toilet
- Build a fence or plant bushes around the property
- Build a grill and pizza oven, with a pergola next to it
- Plant lots of fruit trees: "The best moment to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best moment is NOW" :D
Some random artistic projects we have in mind:
- Build a giant wooden chess
- Do some mosaic artwork underneath the pergola
- Build a tennis court
We expect you to work in whatever you are more comfortable with or with the skills you want to learn, we are more than happy to share what we know and teach you, with patience, so everyone is welcome! Let us know if you have any particular skills, of course!
In addition, there are always "boring tasks" available if you really want to come when there are no big projects going on: like chopping wood, helping in the garden and orchard, weeding, pruning, etc.

Accommodation
At the beginning we'll only be able to offer a tent, with access to the toilet in our house, or alternatively a place for your van to park.
You'll have breakfast on your own (we'll provide everything), we'll have lunch altogether and then some days share dinner or bring it to you! Happy to pack lunch/dinner if you are on your day off and want to be on your own.
We love cooking, so we'll always try to cook delicious and healthy food (please let us know of your dietary requirements).
Most importantly, we want you to have a great time, so feel free to share any particular wishes, even if they seem "weird"... we'll do our best to accommodate them. We have been workawayers ourselves and sometimes wondered whether hosts would be able to

There are many things to do around Pazin, including sports, culture and traditional sightseeing
If biking is your thing, there are many bike trails around (istria dash trails dot com) including an old rail trail we particularly love The "Parenzana" ()
We have bikes to lend you and a car if you prove us you can confidently drive, so you are free to move around on free days. Centrally located within Istria you can visit all beaches nearby. Lots of scenic towns as well: Motovun, Gračišće, Rovinj, etc.
Walking from our place, there are some non-spectacular yet amazing small paths!
You can also borrow from us some camping equipment and other sports stuff, feel free to ask!
