Description
New update!
As we are in the peak of our summer season we will soon sit down and take note of how these first six months hosting workawayers have been. For the time being we will not be taking on more workawayers until we have made a plan for the rest of the year. If you send us a message, we will reply, but it can take a few days as we are busy out on the land.
****Update**** We have marked our calendar full for the summer for the moment, however please feel welcome to contact should you want to join us on our land. We still have some space left, but not all travellers have settled their dates yet, so we are being mindful of not overbooking :-) ****Update****
Come join our little homestead in the southern Italian hillside growing food, taking care of animals or working in the pottery! We first arrived on the land in the early 70s, and we enjoy a rich and local community in the village of Centola, in the Campania region. We speak English and Italian, and we are looking for people who would like to learn new, or develop their skills in a community setting, with a focus on self sufficiency and a healthy life.
We have cats and dogs, sheep and chickens, as well as a biodiverse wildlife around us. We aim to grow organic kitchen staples and herbs in our gardens, and this year one of our new projects is to establish a greenhouse so that we can extend our growing season. Additionally, the property has a variety of fruit trees and we produce our own olive oil.
People of all ages and backgrounds, as well as families are welcome. We can host around 4-6 people at the time, in either private or shared accommodation. In exchange for lodging and 3 meals per day, we ask for 5 hours of help, 5 days a week. This is however flexible, and we want you to have the opportunity to enjoy the Italian countryside and other activities as well. Vanlifers or campers in tents are also welcome.
In addition to growing food, the homestead has a functional pottery which was the source of the family's income in the earlier years. We wish for the pottery to be filled with creativity, and welcome both professional potters and those who have never worked with clay or ceramics before. 3-4 people can comfortably be working in the pottery at the same time, and it can also be used in your personal time.
The general help on the property varies slightly through the seasons, with summer being our busiest season for growing our organic vegetables. In the late autumn, we work with picking the olives, and producing olive oil. Year round we plan for the seasons ahead, and we work on general upkeep of our buildings and caring for our animals. We welcome new ideas, and for participants to work on their own projects as well.Types of help and learning opportunities

Our pottery, Ceramica Inglese, is a ceramics studio where you are welcome to practice or learn new skills with clay, keeping on the traditional trade of our homestead. You will learn how the kiln was fired in the 70s, how to make tiles and plates, and we would very much like to learn something from your own practice if you are an experienced potter or artist!
We have the space, and welcome anyone who would like to draw inspiration from our land, and practice their crafts.
We speak both English and Italian, and you will find that most of our neighbours mainly speak Italian, but are friendly and welcoming, and wanting to share life here with guests. If you want to brush up on your Italian, or learn from scratch, you will have plenty of opportunities to practice.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

We can provide both private and shared accommodation in a peaceful and calm countryside. We aim to cook community meals, however should you wish to take some time by yourself and eat in peace, that is also possible. We can host couples, singles, friends and families.
We also have space on our land adequate for vanlifers or people who would like to pitch tents of all sizes. What else ...
The Campania region is known for historical sites, agriculture, olives and incredible food (to name a few things). The villages surrounding us, are old stone villages, where the residents enjoy a modern village life today. We are situated in between the mountains and the sea, so you can enjoy a variation of both sea- and mountain activities such as hiking and trekking.
