Our location in the North-Central part of Mallorca (yes, we have a train station:) is ideal for experiencing authentic Mallorquín food, culture and lifestyle, without major influence from tourism. We also are happy to share information about our experiences as as a professional photographer who travels the world, and a singer/voice teacher who has performed in top venues in Europe and the US. Plus, we're super creative in the kitchen!

A) Help with baby care (21 months old baby). Please find this symbol, ►, below here...
B) Builder / construction / or handyman. We just signed the papers on a house that is structurally sound, but needs renovation. We invite 1 or 2 volunteers with previous experience to help with anything related to renovating or remodelling, removing old fixtures and debris, painting. We are at beginning stage of remodelling.
► Hello! We sometimes look for people to help us in Mallorca. It’s my happy privilege to be the main care giver to my baby son. (I work professionally flexible part-time hours, & I’m slowly transitioning back into my music career.) I need help with my baby, such as entertaining him, talking to him, helping him discover and play with new objects, changing diapers, watching that he’s safe while he walks, crawls and plays, feeding him, giving him a bottle & putting him down for a nap. I will always be near by; I simply need more time to work in my home office/music studio.
We also need some light help with household chores, which may or may not include: washing dishes, possibly preparing a meal, getting groceries, laundry (we have an electric washer & dryer), vacuuming and similar tasks. Our friendly dog also really appreciates when someone takes her for a run or walk!
It's useful to us if you have a driver's license (for at least 2 years, if you are younger than 25 years old). You will not be driving a lot, but on occasion, yes.
The way it's been working well (though most things are flexible:), is that the workawayer has all mornings free, plus Saturdays and Sundays completely off. The 5 work hours (or sometimes less than 5 hours) is in the afternoons on Monday through Friday, with a nice break in the middle.
A WorkAway helper stays in the home of my husband's parents (same block as our house). My husband's parents live in the bottom floors of that home, and the WorkAway volunteer has the entire 3rd floor (top floor) to herself. The WorkAway bedroom is a private bedroom on the top floor with a balcony (with a little bit of a view of the Tramuntana mountains). Also on the top floor is a large "open floor plan" room -- a living room/kitchen/office space. On the lower floors, there are 2 bathrooms and another kitchen.
Our baby, myself, and my husband - our house is only a half-block away from your house! So, it's very easy to go back & forth between the 2 houses.
We are very appreciative of WorkAway help, and we believe in giving respect and a lot of free time to people so they can explore the island, practice Spanish (or English, or Mallorcan Catalan), and enjoy social/cultural activities while here.
✪ The coolest things about our village is that it has the friendliest Mallorquíns, the strongest accent (in the older generations), and the spiciest food (there are non-spicy dishes too of course). It also has a train station to Palma and many other villages. Our houses are only 2 blocks away from the main Plaza Mayor, which is one of the nicest plazas in all of Mallorca. (◠‿◠) We are 20+ minutes from the beach by bike, 7 minutes away by car.
Our village is surrounded by farmlands countryside and marshlands. We sometimes visit the organic farm of our village, b/c we used to live there and now our friends live there. You are welcome to go there anytime - and if it's something you want to do in your free time, the farm owners are happy to have help on the farm and show you organic farming methods.
My husband & I are happy to buy your basic grocery items. At both houses, we all prefer that you enjoy "doing your own thing", at whatever time works for you. All the food in the top floor fridge, freezer & dry shelves are for WorkAway. On occasion, we invite the WorkAwayer to join us for a meal. This way, a WorkAwayer can enjoy being mostly be independent, but also enjoy a few meals together for a bit of socializing.
TRAIN / BIKE / BUS / CAR:
Most Workawayers have used my automatic car for special occasions. (You cover the cost of your gas.) We have several bicycles that you are welcome to borrow.
In general, it’s best you take the bike to the beach, or the train to Palma (or to other villages on the way to Palma).
A few examples of how u can get around:
Inca = easy by train (market day is Thursday).
Bahía de Alcúdia/Play de Muro = bike, or early morning bus from Sa Pobla + evening bus return.
Soller = train + another train or bus.
Valldemossa = train + bus.
Illetes = train + bus.
Deia, Estrenc, Artá, etc. = you can take my car IF you are a confident driver AND we don’t need my car that day.
By the way, all my family speaks fluent Spanish and English (except my father-in-law, who only speaks Spanish, and tries his best in English:).
We look forward to hearing from you! Happy travels! ☼ ❀ ♫
