    Description

We are a young couple living in the countryside. Rute was a contemporary dancer and Nuno is architect. Before we lived in the city of Porto. For some time in our life we decided to leave the city to find the field calm that nature offers, to start a different life and to create our child in a healthy environment. We have good mood and we love to get to know people from all over the world.
Lately we have adopted a horse and want to start creating organic gardens but we do not have much experience and we are only two for all the work you want to accomplish. At this time we seek volunteers for work related to gardening, organic farming, care of horses and support for diverse logistics tourism subjects.

We run a tourist farm house located in a rural village in the heart of Minho (north of Portugal), his parish is Oriz (S.Miguel) in Vila Verde, Braga outside. Situated 30 km from Ponte de Lima, 30 km from the Geres National Park and 70 km from Porto Airport. Our farm consists of two stone houses (one house it's only for tourists and the other house is for the family Homemade and volunteers), a Santo António Chapel (reception, gallery space and supporting events), one espigueiro, one sequeira, a swimming pool, children play area, one Tipi to relax, and one hectare of private green spaces and rural areas along a brook.

    Accommodation

The farm consists of two stone houses, one is the tourist house and the other one is the mother house with a kind of an apartment on the ground floor where volunteers can stay. It is free to receive people from all over the world: has one big double room, one sigle room with buck beds, bathroom, living room with cable tv and internet access plus and one patio. It has central heating and solar heating. Don't have a Kicthen in the apartament you have to share Kicthen with the family Homemade. Inside the apartment you have a refrigerator, microwave, cooking utensils, barbecue and a space to store food. We have the reception in the Chapel with gallery space and supporting events. We will provide food for all volunteers.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are in a very small village , quiet , isolated and the people living in this area are dedicated to agriculture. Normally they are very nice people and helpful. In our village supermarket, fishmonger and baker come every day knocking at the door to sell your product. In the vicinity of the farm there are several restaurants with typical Minho gastronomy, wine tasting tours, the hot baths of Caldelas (Termas de Caldelas), river beache, waterfalls, and of course Gerês National Park...

The best way to get to us is by car our by bus that come from Braga and Vila Verde until Oriz São Miguel (but they are only a few). Then maybe we can catch you with our car there. You can use our bike's for touring or as a way of transport.

Volunteers can also make and develop personal projects provided that they are before discussed and approved by the family of home. But we are usually available to help in personal projects of each one.
