    Description

Hello and welcome to our little place!

We are Fredrik(39) , Stine(30) and baby Alvilde (7 months). Our place is close to Øverbygd in the north of Norway in the forest with very few neighbors. We call the place our own little paradise. We have the river running in the backyard and mountain views from the porch. Our 16 chickens are walking around freely and then we have our 14 Alaskan huskies + 7 puppies.

We use our dogs as sled dogs. During the summer/autumn time we train them in front of the ATV and in the winter we change to the sled. This season Fredrik participated in a few races and did great. Our main goal and focus for the next season will therefore be to participate in Femundløpet(450 km) and Finnmarksløpet(600 km). This means a lot of training and lots of work. We have in total 14 Alaskan huskies + 7 puppies. These are working dogs, they live outside in pairs in pans and they love to run. This is a lot different than a normal pet dog, these are working dogs!

We are looking for someone that wants to join our life here with the dogs in the forest.
It's nice if you have some carpenter experience or know how to use a hammer and screw machine.
We need someone that can be independent and work by themselves and we will make sure that you'll get all the knowledge and training to take care of the dogs alongside us.
You have to be able to work independently and preferably have the mentality “learning by doing'' and “I have never done that before so I’ll be good at it.”

!! WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR AT THE MOMENT (updated the 6th of April) !!
We are currently only looking for someone in May and/or June!!
We need help with taking care of the dogs which consist of: feeding, poop picking, brushing, take them in the freerun(fenced area where they can run free), socialize the puppies(born the 1st of April).
We need help with general maintaince outside and inside the house, maybe babysitting a little bit.

Fredrik will be home on his paternity leave with Alvilde and you'll therefore not be alone.

    A little bit about us:

Stine is from Denmark and moved to Norway in 2022. Stine works full time as a chef/baker and is also an educated physiotherapist for dogs. She started up her own little clinic in the house where she takes in dogs for treatment. When not working and cuddling dogs she tries to grow some vegetables in the garden - not always doing so great, so still a long learning process.

Fredrik is from the north of Norway. He has been living here in the house for four years. He is working as a daily manager within tourism and is an educated nature guide. He loves to fish and has been doing so his entire life. Besides that he is a true outdoor man, likes to hike, ski, use his hands and just be outside a lot.

What else can you do here in the forest then? We have a little wooden boat in the lake which is only 2,5 km from us. You can go fishing there or in the river, go SUP-boarding, hike the amazing trails, take a sauna, make a fire, enjoy the peace and quietness, the list is long and all depends on the season.
Tromsø is 2 hours away by car. If you don't come with a car, we can take you to the nearest busstation or you can maybe borrow our car, if it's not used.

If you find our place and way of living interesting, please send us a message and tell us about yourself and what you can bring to our place. Please also include when you want to come, the length of your stay and if you have some experience with sleddogs. We are looking forward to hearing from you! :)

You will learn about dogsledding, the outdoor life and hopefully just learn to enjoy the nature to its fullest, if you have the right attitude.
We have many days where we just sit outside in silence and look out and listen to the nature, look at the stars or northern lights.

You will have the opportunity to go hike with our dogs. You can borrow all the outdoor equipment you would need for a sleepover in the nature.
This area is famous for its amazing northern lights in the winter and midnight sun in the summer.

But above all we are very happy to share our lifestyle with you!

    No days are alike.
The dogs always get food around 8 in the morning. It will either be you or us doing the feeding but we do not see this as work since it’s a necessity. So do you want to spend as much time with the dogs and learn about them, this is the time.

There is always a lot to do outside in the summer: Painting the garage, cleaning up outside (driving a lot to the recycling place) and maybe building a cabin are all days/weeks projects. So what you exactly would have to help with, we can not say.
When the weather is cold enough we will also train the dogs and when working with dogs/animals in general not one day is the same and the working hours can therefore change from day to day. So we can’t say that you will work 5 hours everyday or 8-15, we often train in the night during the summer.

We try to eat a warm meal together in the evening. Breakfast and lunch you make yourself and here we eat very basic. We eat bread for breakfast and lunch.
