    Description

Hello and welcome to our little place!

We are Fredrik(38) and Stine(29). Our place is close to Øverbygd in the north of Norway in the forest with very few neighbors. We call the place our own little paradise. We have the river running in the backyard and mountain views from the porch. Our 16 chickens are walking around freely and then we have our 15 Alaskan huskies and 1 samoyed.

We use our dogs as sled dogs. During the summer/autumn time we train them in front of the ATV and in the winter we change to the sled. Our main goal is to have happy and healthy dogs that are just allowed to be dogs and in the future to participate in long distance races. We have in total 15 Alaskan huskies where 8 of them are “puppies”, they turn 1 year in May and August. These are working dogs, they live outside in pairs in pans and they love to run. This is a lot different than a normal pet dog and the training of a pet dog but with that said they still love lots of cuddles.

This coming spring and summer we have many projects. First of all we are expecting a baby in the beginning of September. We also want to realize our dream of building up our own little lodge where people can come and stay and join our life here with the dogs, join training, sledding, fishing, hiking and reconnect to nature. Therefore we are building a cabin this summer alongside other projects at home.

We are looking for someone that wants to join our life here with the dogs in the forest.
It's an advantage if you have some carpenter experience or know how to use a hammer and screw machine.
We need someone that can be independent and work by themselves and we will make sure that you get all the knowledge and training to take care of the dogs alongside us.

!!ONLY LOOKING FOR HELP FROM 1st OF MAY TO END OF JULY!! Preferebly the same person staying these 3 months.

What we need help with in the spring/summer time:
    - Paint the house and garage outside
    - Big cleaning outside and preparation for the cabin
    - Build the cabin
    - Feeding and take care of the dogs
    - Small projects inside the house

!!We have all the help we need from August and the coming winterseason!!

What we need help with in the fall time (from August):
    - Taking care of the dogs and training them - we are only looking for someone that can stay at least 2 months during August/September - more about this is in the description.

Besides the projects above we also would love help with general housekeeping and making dinner from time to time.

    A little bit about us:

Stine is from Denmark and moved to Norway in 2022 with Lumi, the samoyed. Stine works full time as a chef/baker and is also an educated physiotherapist for dogs. She started up her own little clinic in the house where she takes in dogs for treatment. When not working and cuddling dogs she tries to grow some vegetables in the garden - not always doing so great, so still a long learning process.

Fredrik is from the north of Norway. He has been living here in the house for four years. He is working as a daily manager within tourism and is an educated nature guide. He loves to fish and has been doing so his entire life. Besides that he is a true outdoor man, likes to hike, ski, use his hands and just be outside a lot.

What else can you do here in the forest then? We have a little wooden boat in the lake which is only 2,5 km from us. You can go fishing there or in the river, go SUP-boarding, hike the amazing trails, take a sauna, make a fire, bake a cake, go explore the north of Norway, enjoy the peace and quietness, the list is long and all depends on the season.
Tromsø is 2 hours away by car. If you don't come with a car, you can borrow ours from time to time but we both use them for work so it will not be available a lot.

We want someone that likes to be outside, use your hands and body and wants to take part of our life here in the forest. You have to be able to work independently and preferably have the mentality “learning by doing and by your mistakes'' and “I don´t know how to do that, but I will try my best.”

Besides all the summer projects we are also looking for someone that wants to come and stay at least 2 months in August and September. We need someone that will join the fall training of the dogs and someone that we can trust. During these months we will become first time parents and we therefore need someone that will stay with the dogs and train them while we will be gone for some days. This is a big trust for us so we are looking for the right person with the right mentality for this period.

If you find our place and way of living interesting, please send us a message and tell us about yourself and what you can bring to our place. Please also include when you want to come, the length of your stay and what kind of experience you have. We are looking forward to hearing from you! :)

To be here will give you memories that will last for a long time.
You will learn about dogsledding, the outdoor life and hopefully just learn to enjoy the nature to its fullest, if you have the right attitude.
We have many days where we just sit outside in silence and look out and listen to the nature, look at the stars or northern lights.

You will have the opportunity to go hike with our dogs. You can borrow all the outdoor equipment you would need for a sleepover in the nature.
This area is famous for its amazing northern lights in the winter and midnight sun in the summer.

But above all we are very happy to share our lifestyle with you!

    No days are alike.
The dogs always get food around 8 in the morning. It will either be you or us doing the feeding but we do not see this as work since it’s a necessity. So do you want to spend as much time with the dogs and learn about them, this is the time.

The summer projects are some big ones. Painting the house, cleaning up outside (driving a lot to the recycling place) and building the cabin are all days/weeks projects. So what you exactly would have to help with, we can not say.
When the weather is cold enough we will also train the dogs and when working with dogs/animals in general not one day is the same and the working hours can therefore change from day to day. So we can’t say that you will work 5 hours everyday.

We sometimes eat together in the evenings or you can bring your dinner/sandwich/expedition food with you and go for a hike and enjoy it at the waterfall, in the mountains, on the lake in the boat, by the river, or wherever you wanna go :)

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will get your own big room in the basement.
We will share the bath and kitchen upstairs.

You will have access to wifi.

Since we only have one room available with a double bed though, we are looking for either a couple or one person. You can also be two friends traveling together but keep in mind that you have to share the bed then :)

At the moment our water acces is not the best and the more people we are in the house the worse it gets. So long showers everyday is not a possibility here. When the water has been at the worst we go get water in the river.
