    Description

Hi! I'm Wingston, a software engineer and maker based on KNSM Eiland, a quiet former-harbour island in the east of Amsterdam, right on the water. I live here with my wife and our two cats. I split my time between building things with code, running a food-rescue foundation, and a creative practice that mixes music, photography, and tech.
I'm looking for a friendly, reliable Workawayer to help out around the home. In exchange you'll get a comfortable place to stay in one of the nicest, most peaceful parts of Amsterdam.
    What I'd need help with
Looking after our two cats, Porto and Max: feeding, fresh water, litter, and some company and play
Keeping the house clean and tidy: common areas, dishes, light cleaning
Cooking: preparing meals for me and my wife (we're easygoing about food and happy to share ideas)
Home handy tasks: small fixes, organising, and odd jobs around the place
It's a relaxed, low-pressure setup — a few hours a day, leaving you plenty of free time to explore the city.
    What you get
A comfortable place to stay on one of the calmest, prettiest spots in Amsterdam — walkable to the centre, great for cycling, and a real local neighbourhood feel rather than the tourist crowds. A welcoming, creative home and plenty of tips on the city.
    Who I'm looking for
Someone trustworthy, tidy, and fond of cats, who enjoys cooking and is handy around the house. Independent and easy to live alongside. Some English is enough — no Dutch needed.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Social life & community
This isn't a closed-off arrangement. I run an Amsterdam food-rescue foundation, and there's a real community around it — volunteer dinners, food markets, and workshops where you'd be very welcome to join in, meet locals, and be part of something meaningful. You'll also be folded into everyday life here: meals together, conversations, and the easy social rhythm of the neighbourhood. My studio on KNSM is a creative, sociable space too.
    What I can share
Plenty, depending on your interests — anything from cooking and food-rescue know-how to the technical and creative side of what I do: software and AI, music and live performance, photography, and general making and tinkering. I'm happy to teach, swap ideas, or just collaborate on something while you're here.
    What I hope to gain
Honestly, the best part of hosting is the people. I love learning about other cultures, cuisines, ways of cooking, music, and perspectives. I'd happily trade a Dutch recipe for one of yours, or learn a few words of your language over dinner. Good company and a bit of cultural exchange go a long way.

Three people work together in a lively kitchen. One stirs a large pot, another prepares food, while vegetables roast on trays, creating a busy, communal atmosphere.
Fresh vegetables, including radishes, leafy greens, and snap peas, are displayed in crates on tables indoors. People browse and select produce in a cozy setting.
