    Description

This is a homestay in the mountains of Austria. The house is located high up in complete solitude, surrounded by gorgeous mountains, valleys, pastures and forests. We are only a very short distance away from several of Austria's famous ski areas. I am a former Austrian expat who has returned to her home country. My personal background is in medical biochemistry and English Literature, and I work from home. I have epilepsy. I've worked with many volunteers in the past and it has been such a wonderful experience. Several volunteers have remained life-long friends! The house is a historical farmhouse, about 400 years old, completely renovated and updated. The goal is to be self-sustainable. Here, nature is straight out the back yard (literally) and hiking trails abound. It's a shared common opinion that this historic farmhouse built and maintained in the traditional Austrian cultural style is inspiring, motivating, and conducive to creative endeavors (go for it if you'd like!). It's the perfect match for someone ready to embrace life in the Alps and in the backcountry.

Because I am bilingual English/German, I'd be happy to help you practice either language. I am a former expat, so I have lots of personal travel experience to share. For a total of six years, I used to work as a shepherd high up and off-grid in the Austrian Alps, so naturally I am very familiar with traditional Austrian culture - and happy to share. Apart from that, I love to learn about and get to know peeps from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. This type of connection is one of the main reasons why past volunteer experiences were of such high value!

I am looking for help with the household, namely cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and general housekeeping. This is a private homestead, thus, Workawayers won't be helping with any tasks relating to business and won't be asked to help with any profitable projects.

    What else ...

I am in my Forties, female. Friends from around the world regularly come to visit, so does my family from Austria. We often hike and share meals together. The "we" in this statement automatically includes any Workawayer if they choose to! Don't be mistaken though: Because of the location in the midst of the mountains, the ideal Workawayer for this homestay also appreciates solitude in nature.

If you are into Winter Sports: Several fantastic ski areas are minutes away.

On a totally different note: The house has two historic, restored wood-burning stoves. One of them is for cooking and has its own bread-baking oven. There is also an electric stove for cooking.

The Wifi connection is stellar. You basically have free scheduling. As long as things get done, the work you do for me can be scheduled around your work as a digital nomad. I run my entire business online from home, so I know firsthand what the digital worklife and career entails. Note: You will not be asked to help with any tasks related to my business or to help with profitable projects of any kind.
