Description
Kia Ora,
Thanks for reading! I am a 32 year old woman from England and I would love to find some nature based workaways here in NZ, so I can provide mahi for a worthwhile project, get to know a spot I haven't explored a little better, and make new connections before I have to leave the country in June.
Things to know about me;
I'm addicted to chocolate (but working on it)
I am really physically active, for example I love hiking, martial arts, bicycling, surfing, yoga, climbing, dancing etc etc
But I am also very content chilling in a hammock for hours reading a book, eating cookies.
I'm happiest when out in nature!
I am trying to get into a daily meditation and writing habit.
I won't leave your dog alone. (unless told I must)
Love all animals in general
I have been travelling on and off for the last 10 years, hoping to settle down soon... 🤣
I am really sustainably minded, I avoid flying, driving too much, always have my reusable water bottle with me, am super into growing my own food, I don't like waste.
My current idea is to try and get back to Europe without getting on a plane !
I am very precious about my sleep and love waking up early and going to bed early (unless I get tempted into fun nighttime activites like staying up all night doing a jigsaw)
Although I am very much able to and do take initiative I do really appreciate clear communication and direction where possible and/or constructive feedback when necessary.
I've done many workaways in my previous travelling experiences, and I am committed to helping out efficiently and getting stuck in to the culture, the community, and although I do appreciate a good dose of alone time in the wilderness, I really love making connections.

More details about your skills
In a general sense I have a very hard working and friendly demeanour and genuinely want to help in anyway I can, so I am proud of doing a good job. Having worked many physically demanding jobs in the past I am capable, practical and very strong and not afraid of getting dirty or wet.
For the last year I have been working on a community farm in Auckland as the compost co-ordinator and farm worker and the year before that as a commercial gardener. Many of my previous workaways over the last 10 years have been working on the land in a practical gardening sense and I have done much of my own vegetable growing over the years using permaculture practices. So these are probably the areas I can most bring the most amount of skill and experience to!
After physical gardening work the most amount of work experience I have is with kids! I've worked as a nanny for many years when I was younger, as well as more recently working at an after school centre and doing kid's entertainment. I am very play focused and love getting kids outdoors but also very content doing arts and crafts. I have trained as a TEFL teacher being a native english speaker and have taught a range of ages and I love supporting people to feel more confident in their english speaking.
Other experience I have is working people facing roles, from hospitality; hostels, restaurants etc and as a caregiver. Having travelled the world, putting myself out of my comfort zone and meeting a variety of people I have gained really strong interpersonal skills and openmindedness, and I love meeting new people and generally get on with most people.
I am always keen to learn new skills and absorb new knowledge!!

What else ...
I'm currently especially interested in learning about eco house building (cob or mud brick!!) I have done a previous workshop on this and done some research but I am super keen to learn more.
I would also love to get more into sailing, having only done a brief sailing trip 3 years ago.
