Description
WELCOME
Come and help us continue developing our farm, located a bit outside a small village in the beautiful region of Värmland, Sweden. The area is surrounded by woodlands and features a small lake, a vegetable garden, dogs, sheep, pigs, chicken and bees.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We focus on utilizing nature´s resources, cultivating culinary herbs and processing some of our produces for our own consuption. Caring for the garden and greenhouses are common tasks here. We strive for self-sufficiency and follow ecological principles. Our animals play an integrated role on the farm, providing us with food, wool and daily joy.
There´s always something to do on the farm, with maintenance and seasonal tasks being constant.
As a volonteer, you´ll be expected to work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. We prefer a stay of at least three weeks, but for the right person, a longer stay is always welcome. We have lunch together on workdays, usually prepared by Börje, although we may take turns cooking. For breakfast and dinner you´ll cook for youreself with ingredients we provide.
The nearby village is small but vibrant, with plenty of activities. You´ll have access to bikes or, once or twice a week, a ride into town with us. Tasks on the farm include caring for the animals, odd jobs with sheep, pigs, chicken and bees as well as cutting and splitting firewood, painting, dog walks cleaning and general maintenance. We usually start the day plan together what needs to be done.
THE YEAR ON THE FARM
The year starts with sowing seeds, cultivating plans, caring for animals and preparing for planting along with various maintenance tasks. In March and April some years we have lams that we need to take care about. We sometimes have some wool projects and we prepare the bee hives so the bees have space for the honey they produce. From May to August we take care of the things we grow, maintenance of the houses, cleaning the land area from bushes and other work that need to be done. Autumn is particularly harvesting also in the forest where there is a lot of berries and mushrooms that we prepare for winter storage.
DO YOU WANT TO JOIN US?
Despite the busy nature of farm life, our animals come first so why not join me for a morning dog walk to start the day?
We look forward to hearing from you!
