Description
Kia ora!
We are Lucy and Reece, and we live in Hillcrest on Auckland’s North Shore with our new baby. Reece is a builder and I’m an artist, and over the past five years we’ve been slowly transforming our home and section ourselves.
After being part of the Workaway community during our travels, we’re now opening our home to someone who can join us in the next stage of the renovation, helping with a mix of small building jobs, landscaping, and general finishing work around the property.
We’re also hoping it’s a genuine exchange of skills and ideas — a chance to learn from each other as we go.
We’re passionate about sustainable living, growing organic food, music, and connecting with people from all over the world, and we’d love to share our home and family life with someone keen to be part of the project for a while.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Reece is a very experienced builder and great teacher so after work or on weekends he can share skills. I am around during the day, also an experienced renovator and painter so happy to teach, assist. We've both travelled a lot and have been based in Auckland for 16 years. We are 8 minutes drive from Takapuna beach, under 20 to the city centre so there is lots to explore or see maybe as a base between travels.

Help
Daily efforts will include anything from painting, prepping, gardening, cleaning/sorting.

Accommodation
We have an ensuite room with a queenbed.

What else ...
Ngunguru is an ideal base for exploring the stunning Tutukaka Coast:
* Ngunguru Estuary: A stone's throw away, this estuary offers peaceful walks, birdwatching and beautiful views of the surrounding coastline.
* Dive Tutukaka: One of the world’s leading dive spots is just 10 minutes drive over the hill.
*Close to Whangārei: just a 20 minute drive to the nearest city and all the amenities you’ll need.
Unfortunately there is no public transport out to Ngunguru (some private shuttles) so ideally you’d have you’re own vehicle, however we can certainly accommodate pick up from Whangarei and take you to local spots when we can in your down time.
