Description
We are a family of 2 living on a small farm breeding Morgan horses in Hungary in a secluded picturesque valley appr. 40 km from Budapest. If you love outdoors and wish to experience real rural ranch life, and do not shy away from hard work getting your hands dirty in all sorts of weather conditions - this is for you! :)
We are urgently looking for 1 volunteer free from C19 and not vaccinated who is willing to help both outside with our animals & garden as well as inside the house with some household chores.
Please, note: The farm is not a riding facility so horseriding is not part of the exchange.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our horse boarding facility is unique and it streches over 5 hectares: the horses (5-10) are kept in a herd environment 24/7 on a “track system” with limited access to rotational grazing. You can learn about what is called a “Paddock Paradise” system encouraging natural herd behaviour, while offering sustainable pasture management. We are a unique Morgan horse breeding program in Eastern Europe, so you can be part of a pioneer project. The farm is completely off-grid, which means we are not connected to any public network (water, sewage or electricity) so it is your opportunity to see how self-sufficiency works in actual life, and it also means we have to be mindful users of the resources available especially during the winter.
Help
General ranch help is needed around our Morgan horse herd: feeding, mucking out, grooming, dealing with foals and young horses including stallions.
Occasionally miscellaneous chores and various small DIY projects around the farm are needed such as maintenance of the electric or wooden fencing, mowing the grass, etc.
There is always something to do on a farm - never a boring day!
Please, help us keep the house clean and maybe share some cooking. Also note that we are meat eaters, therefore we not able to provide for any special dietary needs and we are a non-smoking farm.
N.B.: please bring clothing and shoes / boots that will keep you warm (in winter) and dry in rain.Languages spoken

You are welcome in our home and have pretty much all the upstairs of the house for yourself in our guest room and your own separate bathroom with shower and toilet.
What else ...
Our Farm is a pleasant 50 minutes train ride from Budapest Western Railway Station (local station is appr. 10 minutes drive) with everything our beautiful and exciting Hungarian capital can offer from history, art, wellness to culinary delights. Trains (No S71 direction to Vác) leave every full hour from Budapest and we can pick you at Erdőkertes station.
The nearest town (Veresegyház) has all the infrastructure you need and is only 10 minutes drive from us, this is where we do our weekly shopping and has some nice restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops... It boasts also with a Bear & Wolf Rescue Farm, a Thermal Bath and a Ice-skating ring (in the winter) and a weekly farmer’s market offering some Hungarian specialities.
We speak English at home because we are a Norwegian - Hungarian couple, (no kids) so cultural exchange is a natural part of our daily life. We have dogs, sheep chicken and a house cat. We grow some of our own vegetables in raised beds and a tiny greenhouse and planted a small orchard, with more plans to further develop our ability to be self-sufficient. We will gladly introduce you to Hungarian cooking…
3 meals: breakfast, a simple cooked meal in the middle of the day and cold supper are provided by us. Nothing fancy but given with a good heart.A little more information
