    Description

AUTUMN is a great time to be here!!! We have room now to host you.
We are a small, newly established hobby farm with a big vision to create a world where the health and well-being of both people and the planet can flourish.
We are guided by the principles of permaculture – People Care, Earth Care and Fair Share.
We acknowledge the Gunaikurnai people as traditional custodians of the land we live and work on. Our aim as temporary caretakers is to create a lifestyle that is slower, simpler, happier, more self-sufficient, and kinder to the planet, as a demonstration to others of what might be possible.
We are located just 7 minutes from Seaspray, a small coastal village with heaps of charm, on the 90 Mile Beach on Bass Strait, offering surf fishing, ocean swimming and kayaking on Merrimans Creek. Enjoy a drink at the Surf Life Saving Club overlooking the sea. We are 20 minutes from Sale, the nearest large town with all facilities. Kangaroos, koalas and echidnas have been sighted on our property - as members of LandCare we are working to increase wildlife corridors.
We are just 3 hours south of Melbourne, accessible by train. You are welcome to bring your own mobile van. Otherwise, accommodation is provided in an off-grid renovated caravan with basic gas cooking and supplies, with own shower, toilet and laundry facilities nearby. We run on fresh tank water.
We are a middle-aged meat-eating couple, and generally cook gluten free & sugar free. Enjoy fresh eggs from our chooks for breaky! Non-smokers preferred.
We want to do our small part to leave the land in a better state for the next generation than we found it, despite all the challenges that climate change presents. Want to be part of it? We look forward to hearing from you.
    Lucy & Wayne

Our interest areas are permaculture, eco-therapy, growing native trees and using rotational grazing to regenerate our property. Our farm is young so we are open to ways you'd like to make your mark here.
We have an extensive non-fiction library you can browse or join us for walks on our local beach with our dog.
We are happy to show Workawayers around the local area and take you along to local meet ups at our community garden in town.

  • Help

    Help

Tasks for Workawayers aim contribute to the aims of the farm to be self sufficient and to regenerate the land (not activities which generate any income). These include:
    - establishing an orchard
    - establishing permaculture garden
    - building a new chicken house and run
    - caring for animals e.g. chickens, sheep, dogs and cats
    - weeding, lawn mowing and other garden tasks
    - seed propagation, potting up and planting of native trees to regenerate the property with wildlife corridors
On weekends, we will be helping together on these tasks, as we do have work during the week which sometimes has us working in town.
