Description
We are Suzanne and Martijn from The Netherlands. We are together for almost twenty years and from the beginning of 2025 we are looking for a different way of living our life. No more fulltime employment, more traveling and experience what we are missing in our lives.
Martijn has worked in food production since the age of seventeen in different creative functions, mainly in meat- and cheese-production. He is a craftsman and has a love for animals and farm animals in particular. He is always active and 'hands on' and just wants to be physically active, if possible outside. He is enthusiastic about every job, even when he is less experienced. 'Learning by doing' fits him. Besides that he likes to meet new people, for whom he has a natural interest.
Suzanne has a technical background and has always worked in the IT sector. She has experience with different kind of functions like developer, functional analyst, data analyst, project lead, team lead and in the past she has had her own internet company for almost ten years. Pragmatic, serious, analytic and 'learning on the job' are terms that fit her. She loves challenges and learning something new, for example soap making and fermenting.
We both become really happy when we are outside and active. Hiking, cycling and swimming are activities we are doing often. In the past we were enthusiastic amateur triathletes and therefor we dare to call ourselves determined and committed. Besides sports we also like gardening (Suzanne) and fishing (Martijn).
We are looking for a workaway location where we can learn a lot, like the farm life, but also the culture and language. We prefer to stay for a longer period (at least one month, preferably two or three), so we can be of real value for our host(s) and really can learn the routines. -

We were there for 6 weeks and had a fantastic time working on a diversity of interesting projects. Whether it was creating new bike trails, maintaining hiking trails, rebuilding part of an old shed or working on the campsite, it all gave us a great deal of fulfililment and we were constantly learning new skills.
