    Description

This is a non-profit cultural association set up to educate and promote ecological awareness through 'learning by doing'. Tiziana, Jorg and Shak are the association's officers.

It has set out to transform a traditional farm into a self-sustainable one based on regenerative agriculture and permaculture practices. We believe it is essential to learn to live in harmony with nature and have set out to create a sustainable self-sufficient community built by and for eco-travelers - a survival lifeboat for when the consumer economy is no more.

It welcomes eco-conscious travellers and offers residencies and the opportunity to share knowledge and learn about sustainable life-style choices, no-dig vegetable gardening, food forests, composting and biomass recycling. We are always keen to learn about practical ways to reduce our carbon footprint and the life-style changes that can be made to do this.

The farm covers three hectares (nine acres) with traditionally planted olive trees, a vineyard, fruit trees and a magnificent area suitable for vegetable gardening.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Meal times are important moments in the cultural life of the farm and an opportunity for good conversation and conviviality, as well as practical daily planning and communication. Food is of central importance in Italian culture and we hope you will learn to appreciate and enjoy the Italian “tavolata”.

Creativity and curiosity are greatly valued here and musicians, artists and creative craft persons are particularly welcomed. Various musical instruments, arts and crafts materials are available for guests to practice or acquire new talents.

    Help

The place is looking for help in setting up a pallet re-cycling center as part of our youth employment generation project. We are looking for someone with direct hands on experience who can help in selecting equipment, sourcing material, and train young people to safely dismantle pallets and convert the recycled wood into marketable items. We offer a minimum wage for all the tasks requested in our listing and for all hours worked.

We would be similarly interested in supporting any re-cycling idea which offers the possibility of turning waste material into useful products.

We will provide you with vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a private or shared room with an ensuite bathroom.

The environment and personal lifestyle choices are a major issue of concern at the farm. Compost toilets are used to save on water consumption and recycle human waste. Solar heating is used to provide hot water and so only available when the sun shines. There is a wood-fired central heating system which keeps the bedroom temperatures between 15-19°C.
