    Description

Hello travelers! We are a warm, friendly, and relaxed professional couple living in the beautiful coastal city of Victoria, British Columbia.

We have a passion for travel, learning about international cultures, and sharing a great meal at the end of a busy day. Because we love connecting with people from all over the world, our home is very language-friendly! Between us, we speak fluent English and Spanish, as well as intermediate Italian and Japanese.

Why we need your help right now: Life has thrown us a bit of a curveball! One of us currently has a broken foot and the other is recovering from a back injury. We are usually very independent, but we are currently sidelined and having a tough time keeping up with the physical demands of daily life.

We really need a reliable set of hands and feet to help us keep our home and yard running smoothly while we heal!

Our Location: Parks, Beaches, Holes, Mountains and the University

Victoria is absolute paradise, routinely voted one of the most beautiful cities in North America. We live in a fantastic, safe, and highly desirable neighborhood that is perfectly positioned for exploring.

Nature at your doorstep: We are located incredibly close to beautiful local parks and stunning Pacific Ocean beaches.
The University Vibe: We live close to the university, meaning the area is vibrant, full of students, and has great energy, coffee shops, and amenities.
Getting Around: Victoria is a very bike-friendly city. We only a short drive away from downtown. Lots of buses and bike paths to get around on.
    Accommodation, Food & Perks

We offer a welcoming, clean, and safe living environment. In exchange for your help, you will receive:

A comfortable private bedroom with plenty of storage and privacy.
    Access to high-speed Wi-Fi.laundry
All your meals and groceries provided. We may have to send you on the occasional shopping trip (we will cover your costs)
A great opportunity for language practice (English, Spanish, Italian, or Japanese).
Transportation Perks: To help you get around and see the island, we have bicycles available for you to use anytime. For the right person—depending on your driving experience, a valid license, and insurance compatibility—there is also the potential use of a car or a motor scooter to explore further down the coast!

What we look for: We are very friendly , approachable hosts. Because we are dealing with temporary injuries, we appreciate volunteers who can look around and proactively see what needs to be done. If you are a clean, respectful traveler who wants to experience living in a historic Canadian home near the beach with a supportive, friendly couple, we would love to welcome you!

We view Workaway as a genuine two-way street. Because we are currently dealing with a broken foot and a back injury, we are definitely in "homebody mode" right now and aren't super mobile. We can't promise high-energy tour guiding at the moment, but we can promise a warm, fun, and very low-pressure environment where we can connect over good food and shared stories.

We are a language-friendly household! Between us, we speak fluent English and Spanish, and intermediate Italian and basic Japanese. If you are looking to practice your English or brush up on another language in a relaxed, patient setting, you will get plenty of practice here.

We love sitting down at the end of the day over a shared meal or a drink to chat about travel, global cultures, or just laugh about life.

We love the fresh perspective that travelers bring into our home, and we’d love to learn about your corner of the world or swap a favorite recipe. While we are a bit sidelined physically, we know Victoria inside and out and are happy to point you toward the best hidden local beaches, parks, and spots around town. If you appreciate a laid-back, friendly exchange with down-to-earth hosts, you’ll fit right in.

The Project: A Historic Character House

We live in an interesting, character-filled historic house. It is a beautiful space with a lot of personality, but like any heritage home, it requires regular love and care. It’s very big for two people

Because we have a variety of things that need doing, we want to tailor the experience to you! Just let us know what you think you would be interested in doing.

Projects you could help with include:

Housekeeping & Decluttering: Routine cleaning (vacuuming, mopping, dusting) and helping us tackle some satisfying home decluttering projects. Sort books ? Organize offices/ home library?
Gardening & Landscaping: Keeping the yard beautiful with weeding, watering, and light landscaping.
Painting or stonework (Optional!): If you happen to enjoy DIY projects and have some interest: experience this is entirely optional and only if it sounds fun to you!
Daily Chores: Simple things like helping with tidying , taking out the bins, and general organizing.
We expect about 4 to 5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week (around 20–25 hours total). We are highly flexible and happy to work around your schedule so you have plenty of free time to explore.
