    Description

Join us as early as this May

Greetings from Canada, British Columbia, in the beautiful Okanagan Valley. From the lake town of Osoyoos, our mountain estate sits about 28 km up at the summit, surrounded by 500 acres of untouched land and breathtaking, uninterrupted views that seem to last forever. Up here, the days are warm, the nights are cool, and the sky is filled with stars. It is truly a little paradise — a place where luxury and simplicity live side by side. Come experience off-grid living while helping us care for our mountain property.

This is our private family home, not a business, and for the past 18 years we have had the joy of welcoming volunteers from all over the world.

I am a senior, but full of life and curiosity. I am also a writer and have published 12 books on Amazon so far, exploring emotions, people, relationships, and the choices we make in life. I love fashion, music, creating and designing jewelry, and expressing myself through creative projects. I truly appreciate people with different talents, passions, and ways of seeing the world.

Although I now live here without my beloved husband, Ulric—the “Mountain Man”—I continue to open my home and my heart to people from around the world. For us, hosting has always been about sharing, caring, learning from each other, and creating wonderful memories together.

Your stay here will be an adventure in living a little outside the box.

Twenty years ago, my late husband and I came to this place when it was still a raw and gorgeous piece of land, with endless meadows, forest, and untouched nature where we could walk, hike, and simply enjoy the peace and beauty around us.

Over the years, we have developed the property while keeping its natural character. Today there are roads, a well, several unique houses built with beams, straw, and stucco, as well as artistic and one-of-a-kind buildings and interior designs.

Our philosophy, then and now, has always been to let your spirit and imagination flow freely. We are constantly renovating, improving, and creating new things around the property, but we do it without stress—just with curiosity, creativity, and fun.

The best person to learn from here is Russel, my right-hand man and the person in charge of the property. You will be working directly with him on the projects and tasks. People with strong arms, a practical attitude, and an interest in learning new skills would be wonderful to have. You don't need to know how to do everything—we are happy to teach you and learn together along the way.

As for me, I do what I love most: I cook and spoil everyone!

After your agreed working hours, you are completely free to choose whether you prefer to work in the morning or afternoon. The rest of your time is yours to enjoy. You can explore the peaceful surroundings, walk around the land, relax in nature, or simply do whatever makes you happy.

This is a place for people who enjoy freedom, creativity, nature, and living life in their own way.

In addition to our mountain home in Canada, we also have a 20-acre property in Granada, Nicaragua, very close to my heart. From October through May, I am looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers with carpentry experience who would enjoy visiting and helping me there during those months. If this adventure in Nicaragua sounds interesting to you, feel free to contact me for more information. I would be happy to tell you more about the place and what you can expect during your stay.

Like everything we do, this too is about sharing, learning, and building something meaningful together — simply in another beautiful corner of the world.

With your help, your hands, and your love for these places, we continue the legacy my husband Ulric — the Mountain Man — dreamed of and created.

I look forward to meeting the right people, perhaps you.

    With warmth and gratitude

    Ghitta and Tessina

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

As a European who has traveled extensively around the world, I love sharing my experiences, culture, interests, values, strengths, and learning about those of others. I enjoy discovering what makes each of us different while also finding the things we have in common. For me, that is one of the most wonderful parts of welcoming people from different backgrounds.

I can pick you up from the bus station in Osoyoos or Rock Creek

About half an hour from the property, you will find a large ski mountain, which is also a great place for hiking in the summer. There are endless rolling hills, forests, and lakes within a short distance.

The town of Osoyoos is well known for its unique desert landscape, vineyards, fruit orchards, shopping, and beautiful Okanagan Lake, which is wonderfully refreshing to swim in during the warmer months.

Penticton is about an hour from Osoyoos and can also be reached by bus. It is an exciting town to visit, with plenty to explore throughout the Okanagan Valley.

The Cascade Mountains and Nelson are also within reach and make great destinations for weekend trips.

This is a peaceful sanctuary, and I ask everyone to help keep it that way. A few simple rules guide us:

    No fighting or swearing

    No drunkenness or stealing

No drugs of any kind — not even legalized marijuana
