    Description

We are a mountain lodge in the Ecuadorian Andes, located in front of Cayambe Volcano at an altitude of 3,600 meters above sea level. We work with Norma, our cook, and Jorge. They are from the Chimba community and will be more than happy to share their knowledge with you.

We offer activities such as rock climbing, horseback riding, acclimatization stays, and a variety of beautiful hikes—both guided and self-guided—through the magnificent páramo ecosystem surrounding Cayambe Volcano. We work closely with the local community of La Chimba to preserve the sensitive and ecologically important environment we call home.
We also have three beautiful huskies and three llamas.

You will have the chance to experience traditional, authentic life in the Andes, learn about the páramo ecosystem and the animals and plants that inhabit it, and enjoy meaningful moments with both Ecuadorian guests and fellow backpackers.

  • Help

    Help

During your stay at our lodge, you’ll spend a few hours in the morning and evening helping with daily tasks. Outside of this, you are welcome to join other activities such as gardening, maintaining hiking paths, participating in community projects, or simply spending time with our guests.

Intercultural exchange is at the heart of our lodge, and a warm, family-like atmosphere is part of its essence. We are a small, friendly team running a cozy mountain refuge in the Ecuadorian Andes, welcoming both backpackers and local visitors. Guests can stay in our dormitory, one of our private cabins, or our scenic camping area, all surrounded by the breathtaking páramo ecosystem.

We look forward to sharing our space, culture, and mountains with you!
