    Description

My name is Barbara and, together with Alessandro and his dad Mario, we are a small family, but we have huge parenthood behind us: grandparents, uncles, and bigger brothers.
We live in Milan, the fashion and design city, an incredible town full of opportunities and contradictions, perfectly fitting our Nation: Italy.
Art, culture, tradition, and history are part of us, while we are struggling to conquer modernity and services at all levels.

Milan is perfectly situated in the heart of Northern Italy, making it an ideal base for exploring the region's incredible diversity. In just an hour and a half, you could find yourself relaxing on the seaside, skiing or hiking in the majestic Alps, or strolling around the picturesque town of Como and its stunning lake. If shopping is your passion, the most exclusive outlet malls are just a short drive away.

By train, you’re less than an hour from Turin, a city rich in history as the former capital of the Italian Kingdom, or from Bologna and Modena, where you can indulge in some of the finest Italian cuisine. Florence, with its breathtaking Renaissance art, is only two and a half hours away, while Rome, Venice, and Naples are all within a few hours by train, offering endless opportunities for trips.

We’re a lively, energetic family who will not only help you uncover all the hidden gems of our beloved city but also encourage you to travel around Italy and make the most of your time here. We have a deep passion for history, culture, theater, and cooking, and we would be thrilled to share these interests with you, inviting you to be part of all our activities.

We can’t wait to welcome you and show you everything Milan and Italy have to offer!

From September 2024 to June 2025 – Milan – One Person – Childcare/Language Practice – French-speaking, playing any instrument or singing preferred.

We’re looking for someone special to join our family in Milan and help care for Alessandro, who is now 10 years old. Your main hours would be from 3:00 pm until around 7:00/7:30 pm when I return from work, though not every day (2 or 3 days a week). Caring for Alessandro means more than just supervision; it’s about engaging with him, whether that’s playing, going to the park, helping with homework, taking him to after-school activities, or reading together. You may also be asked to give him dinner around 7:00 pm.

Alessandro loves music, especially musicals—he’s singing and dancing all the time! He’s also learning to play the guitar, so if you play an instrument, that’s a huge plus! He enjoys basketball and video games (we encourage the first and limit the second).

We prefer longer stays to maintain consistency in his routine, ideally for the whole school year or at least three/four months.

Occasionally, we may ask you to watch him in the evenings after dinner, though he’s usually asleep by 9 pm. You’ll also be expected to help out around the house—clearing the table after dinner, using the dishwasher, and keeping your room and the bathroom tidy.

We’re excited to welcome someone who can share these experiences with us and make Alessandro’s school year even more special!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We live right in the heart of Milan, just a few blocks from Stazione Centrale and only 200 meters from the Lima stop on the M1 (Red Line). Our apartment is modern and has been recently renovated, offering a unique loft-style layout spread across three levels. Your room is cozy and private, located in the basement, while the ground floor features the kitchen, living room, and a bathroom. The first floor is where you’ll find our bedroom, Alessandro's space, and another bathroom (mostly dedicated to our cat!).

Living in such a distinctive space does require a bit of flexibility, but we’re confident you’ll fall in love with its charm and character!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We’re fortunate to have a cozy house in the mountains and another by the seaside, and we love to escape the city on weekends to unwind. You’re always welcome to join us on these getaways, and you’ll have a room of your own to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Our main hope is to find someone who can help Alessandro practice his English and French, while also bringing the joy of friendship into his life. He’s loved the company of those who’ve cared for him in the past, forming strong bonds that made saying goodbye truly difficult for him. That’s why we’re eager to welcome someone who can stay with us for as long as possible, so these meaningful connections can continue to grow.

We can’t wait to share these experiences with you and make you feel at home with our family.
