  • Description

We are building an intentional community and homestead 15 minutes from downtown Asheville. Founded in December 2020, we are a young project and growing quickly. We are oriented to longer term work traders of 1 month plus.

The property is 1.5 acres and we also have access to neighboring property to graze our animals. There are four people living in the house and one living on the land. We have friends over for dinner and/or a bonfire from time to time. We want to grow our community and intend to bring people who are interested in and excited about permaculture, regenerative agriculture, respect for the land, and creating closed loop systems.

So far there are 6 goats, a vegetable garden, a couple of cows, 40+ chickens, 5 ducks and 4 pigs! We are planning to begin work on creating a food forest this year!

The property owner, Jackson, runs a small handyman business.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You can expect to learn about integrated animal agriculture, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, basic building and handy skills, gardening, and rotational grazing. While you're here, you may get the opportunity to learn about foraging, "primitive" skills, plant propagation, planting fruit trees, etc depending on how the timing works out. I speak some Spanish and like to practice. We expect to learn from you as well, so please let us know what you would like to share!
