Description
WELCOME TO OUR HOME 🌿
We warmly welcome you to the beautiful Saar-Hunsrück region – the “primeval forest of tomorrow.”
We are Anna, Christian, and our two daughters, Marilène (born 2021) and Améline (born 2022).
Our home is a charming 19th-century farmhouse in a small, peaceful village, surrounded by nature. We are lovingly restoring it step by step and enjoy creating a cozy, lively place full of warmth, creativity, and exchange.
Food is an important part of our life – we love cooking and sharing meals together, often using regional, vegetarian and vegan ingredients. Living sustainably and consciously is close to our hearts.
-----
WHO WE ARE
We are curious and open-minded people who love meeting others, discovering new cultures, and exchanging ideas.
Both of us grew up in this region, and after several years of studying, working, and living in different parts of Germany – and traveling around the world – we decided to come back to a quieter, nature-oriented life.
Because of our roots here, we know many hidden spots, local events, and special places – and we’re happy to share them with you.
-----
OUR PLACE &PROJECTS
Nature plays a central role in our everyday life. We are gradually transforming our garden into a natural, diverse space that welcomes insects, bees, animals, and people alike. We grow some vegetables and have fruit trees, and there is always something evolving here.
The forest is all around us – with beech, oak, and spruce trees belonging to our family. Depending on the season, helping with woodwork or small outdoor tasks can be part of the experience.
-----
WHAT WE VALUE
We want to be more than hosts – we want to create a space of connection, openness, and shared experiences.
We enjoy working together, learning from each other, and being inspired by new perspectives.
-----
WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO YOU ✨
If this sounds like a place where you’d feel welcome, we would love to hear from you.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our region offers a great mix of nature and culture. You’ll find endless opportunities to explore the outdoors as well as experience the German cultural landscape.
Famous wine regions like the Moselle, Nahe, Rheingau, Rheinhessen, and Palatinate are all within easy reach. The nearest train station is just 3 minutes by car or 10 minutes by bike (we provide a bike).
Thanks to our location near the borders, you can easily visit different regions of Germany as well as France and Luxembourg – and even enjoy some of Germany’s most scenic train routes along the Nahe and the Middle Rhine. -

Help
We look forward to your help in the household, in the garden and with the children.
There's always help needed in the garden: sowing, planting, harvesting, caring for plants...
But there are always smaller craft works to do at our house (Painting walls, working with wood - cutting, sanding, painting...). -

Accommodation
You will stay in your own private room in our old, lovingly restored house – while sharing the house with us as part of daily life.
We see living together as an important part of the Workaway experience: we cook together, share meals, and enjoy spending time at the table. For us, eating together is not just about food, but about connection, conversation, and feeling at home. -

NATURE & SURROUNDINGS
Pure nature awaits right at our doorstep. The Hochwald-Hunsrück National Park, with its forests, meadows, valleys, and hills, offers wonderful opportunities for hiking, cycling, or simply relaxing.
Several lakes are nearby (reachable by bus or with us), and the rivers Moselle and Nahe are also within easy reach.
CITY TRIPS
There are many beautiful destinations for day trips or overnight stays: Idar-Oberstein and Sankt Wendel (20 minutes), Saarbrücken (45 minutes), Mainz (1 hour), and Trier (around 2 hours). Many of our Workawayers have enjoyed exploring these places. Luxembourg and France are also close by.
GETTING ARROUND
The nearest train station is about 10 minutes away by bike and offers direct connections to most cities mentioned above, as well as to Frankfurt Airport (around 1.5 hours). -
