Description
Hi there, I live on a private farm in a little village in Upper Austria, close to the border of Germany/Bavaria and the Czech rep., located between Passau and Linz. The countryside is very beautiful for walking, biking, riding or just to relax. A swimming lake is not too far from here and in the wintertime it is possible to go skiing in a ski resort close by.
I have 13 Icelandic horses (9 adults, 4 young ones) and 4 cats and I am constantly building my home here. Originally, I am from Munich but have traveled a long time around Austria (and a little through Iceland and Australia:) since I came here to settle down, in order to have all my animals nearby and lots of fresh air... I have several professions but my favourite one is to work with people (and) with horses. Besides that, I love to grow (and eat!!) my own food. One of my hobbies is to sing, so if you are a musician, it would be great if we could practice together. (e-piano available)
I try to be as much self-sustained as possible, so lots of food is from the land, the fertilizing from the horses.. the care for the garden is done by us... the circle closes.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
There is always something to do in the house and in the stables (cleaning, mucking out, preparing food/feed, moving horses, checking water, fence control). Some adjustments or maintenance in the stables and with the fences are always waiting to be made. Also, I am busy with brightening up the furniture, walls, yard, etc. where I would appreciate help from volunteers. I also want to sort out things and to get a better workflow and order. There is a greenhouse and lots of flower-boxes which need to be watered in spring and summer as well as weeding etc .. If you are experienced with gardening, it would be great... In the winter there could be lots of snow to clear. I love to exchange recipes from other countries and share mine. If you are into cooking and/or baking, it would be great if you provide us with your special favourite dishes (including herbs and spices.)
If you are interested in horseriding, provided that there is time enough, my horses and I can teach you :-)
Attn. city people... farm chores are not just giving light amounts of hay and petting horses, it can be exhausting too (especially in the winter time, when things can be frozen). You should be physically fit and willing to lift and empty a wheelbarrow full of poop on uneven and/or slippery surface... That might be different to going to the gym... but some call it medipootation :-)Languages

I have guest rooms with shared facilities, internet access/WLAN/WiFi from your room. Extra bathroom for workawayers. Central heating.
Please do not smoke inside the house and keep your rooms clean and airy. Also, please contribute to keeping the house clean whenever possible and necessary.
If you should have troubles sleeping, the stillness and absence of streetlamps here will help...
Please do not expect me to cook meat meals, because I am (99%) vegetarian. I am providing adequate meals (including home made bread and lots of other homemade, organic and local products) without meat, with enough of proteins by other sources. If you are vegan or somehow allergic, no problem, but probably then you have to cook for us :-)What else ...
If you want to go to one of the bigger cities, I can take you to public transport either for Passau or Linz which is about 1 hrs ride. Even Munich or Vienna is not too far for a short trip, where I can help you arrange for an accommodation. You can borrow bikes (or e-bike) to explore the surroundings as well as hike.
I love to hear from living in other countries and it might be inspiring just to sit and talk in the evenings, socialising, talking about all the world, philosophizing and trying to find solutions to make this crazy world a better place .... :-)A little more information
