  Description

  We are Esther and Jesús, painters and artists, and we live in the paradise of Sierra Mágina, in Jaén. Our house is an artist’s home, with a painting studio and a library that’s perfect for writing. The house is spacious, with plenty of outdoor space, a vegetable garden, and it’s set in the countryside.
  Sierra Mágina is a natural park, home to the second-highest peak in Andalusia. Here you can go climbing and hiking, and you’re almost certain not to come across any tourists. We’re also 30 km from two beautiful little Renaissance towns, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites,Úbeda and Baeza, brimming with art, restaurants and charming spots. Just 80 km from Granada and 60 km from Jaén.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  We’re keen to learn about other cultures, spend time together, and perhaps learn new ways of cooking. We can offer Spanish practice, some drawing lessons, share our knowledge of organic farming, teach some basic home maintenance, go for walks together in the mountains, and share meals and conversations. We’d love to practise the languages we know, and we’re keen to learn whatever our guests can teach us!

  We’re welcoming help with small repairs around the house, painting a wall, laying a path in the garden, and a bit of help in the small vegetable patch…
  Generally speaking, to help us with the various tasks we come up with every day – nothing too demanding or difficult.

  Accommodation

  We offer a guest room with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom. Bed linen and towels will be provided. We’ll usually share meals, but if anyone needs anything special, they’ll have to sort it out themselves. The use of any kind of drugs is strictly prohibited. We don’t smoke, but if anyone does smoke, they can do so on their private terrace or in the garden.

  What else ...

  We lead a peaceful and simple life; music and literature are part of our daily routine. We value the peace and quiet that allows us to pursue our creative work. We consider ourselves environmentalists and we value, care for and respect our surroundings.
  In their spare time, volunteers can go for walks in the mountains, visit nearby towns, or relax in the garden, by the pool or in the library.
