Description
Currently we require long term help between late Nov/early Dec 2025 and Feb/March 2026.
We offer long-term opportunities for fluent Spanish and English speakers to support our local staff in our reception and other areas as required.
Our lodge is in the Inca town of Ollantaytambo, gateway to Machu Picchu in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, Peru. It is a small (10 rooms) quality Bed and Breakfast located in the pedestrian Inka streets in a corner of the village, set in beautiful gardens on an Inka terrace. Staff are all local. Couples and singles welcome.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Most of our staff are local and a key element of the help needed is to empower our local staff with regard to speaking English as well as computer and administrative skills. We require that you speak some spanish, but you are bound to learn alot more, and maybe some Quechua too. Ollantaytambo is an amazing place, a living Inca town, and a comfortable place to discover indigenous Quechua culture. There is also a growing international community.
Staff are happy to practise languages together and teach you about the town and its deep culture, and is a quiet and relaxing place to live with a large garden and kitchen.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
Please only apply if you are available quite long term and speak Spanish. Most of the help required is in reception.
One of our housekeeping staff graduated a few years ago in tourism administration and having run our restaurant is now working in our reception. As well as working alone on reception, we would like you to help her, and other staff, so that they can gain extra skills and be left alone in reception more often at busier times. We may also request help in other areas depending on our needs and your skills.
We have been working with work-exchangers for several years, alongside local reception and cleaning staff. A previous local daytime receptionist started off at our Lodge doing housekeeping, breakfast and then accounts and email and then reception. She went on to run her own hotel, thanks to the training provided by the owner and work exchange helpers.
We only work with long term Workawayers including couples, minimum 2-3 months, with good Spanish and English, who are personable, responsible and hard-working and with good administrative and personal skills and attention to detail to help at the lodge. Many of our volunteers stay for 6 months.
Couples and singles are welcome.Languages

The Sacred Valley is a focal point for tourists but there are lots of ruins that are rarely visited. There is great public transport and lots of lovely hiking.

The guys of the staff are really cool, friendly and hardworking. I learnt a lot during my stay about Quechua culture and I definitely improved my Spanish. It was lovely to see how interested they were about my own culture… read more
