Ghana is a country with a very rich culture wich you can experience best by working together with Ghanaians. That way you will learn the basics of the language, customs, rituals and foods. You will work hand in hand with the Ghanaian team to run the hostel. The team exists of only 9 people and are like a family. You will probably be invited for events and outings with the staff which can give you the real Ghana experience. There is also a nice international community that have dinner here on Friday and go out together.
We are looking for a hostel helper. We have had several Ghanaian hostel managers but a hostel is not very common in Ghana and especially not fotr Ghanaians so the managers always find it hard to understand the vibe and atmosphere of a hostel.
So we are looking for someone to train the team in understanding what is expected from hostel staff. What people in general are looking for when they come to a hostel and to supervise their tasks. The team knows pretty well what their tasks are so it is mostly about supervising and creating understanding about what a hostel is all about.
We are also very open to ideas and improvements. So we welcome you with all your experience and creativity! Minimum stay of 6 months for the hostel position. Experience working in a hostel is preferred!
If you want to help out in the garden, help with eco or art projects, we can accept 1 month stay.
You will get a bed in a 8-person mixed dorm in the hostel with a cabinet to yourself that can be locked.
You will sleep and work in the hostel where our kitchen staff prepares 2 meals a day. You can join the kitchen staff to learn all about the Ghanaian dishes or you can teach them one of your own favorites.
