    Update April:
We are looking for someone beginning End of May. Before that is not possible.

    Tasks 2025:
    - Plastering with traditional limestone
    - Preparing clay for clay plastering and also do some tests with the clay
    - Doing a clay plastering workshop with a professional clay plasterer
    - garden work
    - if you like but no must: spend some time with our child and our dog

Welcome to our cozy and comfortable home in Kamptal, Austria!

We are a small family with a passion for sustainable living. We, Ronja and Felix are both trained designers, that's why we really enjoy planing and crafting thinks with our hands in our free time. After living some year in Berlin and Vienna, we decided to move to the countryside and bought a 17th-century farmhouse three years ago. Our place is situated in a picturesque wine region, surrounded by small wineries where you can enjoy affordable food and drink.

While we are not professional farmers, we believe in the importance of understanding the flow of the seasons, eating regional food and reducing our impact on the environment. Our small vegetable garden and projects like making our own cheese, wine, miso or bread helps us to do just that. Our (part-time) day jobs are mostly behind the screen, that's why we enjoy spending our free time working around the house and exploring the beautiful region around us. We also have a friendly dog who loves to cuddle and go for walks in the surrounding countryside. This year, a lovely duck couple and bees have found a new home with us.

If you are interested in learning about sustainable living, exploring the Austrian wine region, cooking and eating good food and immersing yourself in the local culture, we would love to have you join us!

Travellers who stay with us can learn a variety of skills and gain new experiences. But we would also like to learn a lot from you. :) Workaway is there for sharing work, thoughts and experiences.

    Sustainable living practices:
We are passionate about sustainable living and strive to reduce our impact on the environment. Travellers can learn about sustainable living practices such as organic gardening, composting, and energy conservation. We also renovated our farmhouse mostly by ourselves with as many sustainable building materials as possible and love to share the experiences we made.

    Regional and seasonal food:
We are passionate about food and specially with local sourced ingredients and biological cultured.
We have a lot of places around we get our food directly from the producers like from Milk, Cheese, Meat, Veggies and Eggs and wine. We are also producing our own bread, cheese, and yoghurt. We conserve a lot from the fruit trees in our garden and from the surrounding.

    Austrian culture:
Our farmhouse is located in the heart of the Kamptal wine region, where travellers can immerse themselves in the local culture by exploring the region's vineyards, small wineries, and traditional cuisine. It's nice because there is some tourism around here but no too much and Vienna is just 1h away.

As there are always many tasks that have to be done, you are quite flexible about what you want to do. Normally we make a little plan for the stay and then see where it goes.

    Here are some examples:

    Building projects:
We always have something going on. May it be building a platform or a kitchen or a slide for our kid. Something will always come up.

    Gardening:
Our lovely, spacious garden has so much potential. We'd love to transform it into designated zones, like an bigger organic vegetable garden and a vibrant perennial border. We already have set up a organic garden that requires regular maintenance, such as weeding, watering, and planting.
We also have some fruit trees which needs to be pruned. Preserving the harvest is also one of the tasks.

    House maintenance:
Our farmhouse is quite old and requires ongoing maintenance. You can help with tasks such as painting, carpentry, and general repairs.

    Cooking and meal preparation:
We love to cook and experiment with new recipes. Everyone who loves cooking is welcome to help with meal preparation and share their own culinary skills. We would love to learn some new recipes.

    What else ...

Vienna is just an hour away. As already said, the small winerys with their open air restaurants are amazing. So there is a lot to do. The train station is 5min away by bike (which we can provide). So it is easy to go everywhere.
