    Description

    Hello,
We are family of 5 including ourselves and 3 lovely children from ages 6 down to one.
We are also managing a dairy farm in Carterton, the Wairarapa and would love to have a workawayer to come and help support us with a few little family things so that we can focus to run our farm nice and smooth.
For instance we are looking for roughly 12-15 hours of help a week to assist with helping us get the kids prepared for school/daycare. And looking after them when necessary. Also a small assistance with a little bit of gardening/house work would be a great help.
In our area there is an amazing amount of things to do. Such an big area for activities. From bush walks to fishing and hunting, to exploring the great Wairarapa and all it has to offer.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

In our house we speak português and English, as Helena is from Brasil. Also she is fluent in Spanish so communication with lots of cultures won’t be a problem. We encourage lots of languages and cultures to enter as we love the idea of us and the kids being exposed to learn about this.
In terms of activities we don’t really do a lot but would love to have someone around to inspire us to get out and do more. We love to cook and would love to try and cook foods from different cultures.
We also love to play board games such as monopoly/cards. And really encourage everyone to have a good laugh and a great time.

    Help

We are after some help with preparing kids for school/daycare. Helping look after them also around school holidays and weekends. Also we would love some help with gardening/housework.
We are in a 175ha dairy farm so there is a huge area for the kids to be entertained.
We would ideally ask for someone who loves to be outdoors. As this is what our family values. We will be there with all these tasks also to get them started. And if we are not there always we will just be on the farm so not far away if they require assistance.

This host offers a language exchange
As mentioned before. We try and speak as much português at home as we can. Craig is not fluent but can hold a conversation and get by. And Helena being from Brasil this is her first language. She also speaks Spanish but would love to practice more as she doesn’t use it a lot. Craig also would love to learn Spanish.

    Accommodation

We have a 4 bedroom house in a lovely area. We have. A room with a big single bed and anything else necessary for the person staying. If we receive a lot of interest we will look at upgrading to a queen bed. We have only one bathroom that will be shared but it is large and really nice.
In terms of food we do a weekly shop and the person staying can just add to the list some things they may like/want. But we have a shared pantry where everyone can just help them selves to whatever they like.

We are just a laid back family looking forward to having you stay. We live 2 km from the train station that will take you all the way to Wellington. This is a 1.5 hour train ride to the central city and this also goes to Masterton. We are happy to take them anywhere they like providing we have to the time and it’s not to far away. But we will generally try make the time.
We don’t have many house rules but just have a laugh and smile and use your manners.

We prefer only small dogs that don’t go anywhere. We have 2 dogs also and because we live in the farm the can’t go out onto the farm. They must stay in the section. Also no dogs inside.
