Description
Hi, we are Shaun and Anna. Come and stay with us at our
Smallholding / Caserío and help us with our project.
If you are interested in Permaculture, Ecological lifestyle, Vegetarian / Organic/ home grown food we would like to hear from you.
We are close to the sea and “Picos de Europa” mountains,
situated between the villages of Pimiango and Colombres on the Asturian / Cantabrian Border.
Not too far off the Camino de Santiago (Pilgrimage)
We moved here in Spring 2023 with the aim to live a more sustainable life in the countryside, in touch with nature and the seasons.
Prior to moving here we spent almost two years travelling around Spain, deciding where we wanted to live. We experienced many different cultures and climates in different areas, and being Workawayers allowed us to do this economically, as well as helping us connect with lots of different people along the way! We love our little corner of Asturias and now want to share it with other Workawayers, this time as hosts.
So if you are keen, fit, energetic, willing to “get stuck in” and help, please get in touch!Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We love to take our Workawayers out and show off this beautiful part of Asturias, visiting some of our favourite places with you.
This could include walking in the mountains, going to one of our beautiful local beaches or visiting historic towns and villages.
Why not try Asturian Cider or other local cultural experiences?
We are located within tranquil countryside but not totally isolated. If you don’t mind walking between 30mins and 1 hour you can get to one of the local villages around us.Help
We are currently planning and designing a little project for March 2025 we will be building an Outside “Eco” shower and a Compost Toilet within an existing out building. This will be a really interesting time to be here.
Other activities will carry on as usual for example help in the vegetable garden, tree pruning and the planting of new trees.
We have also been working hard to make our own compost and Biochar for use on the land.
We are passionate about what we are doing and love explaining what we know and have learned. Learning and gaining knowledge from workawayers is great too!
We love meeting new people and sharing conversation and laughter. We like people who are prepared to "get their hands dirty" working with us (but always wash their hands after going to the toilet!!)Languages
Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Spanish: Fluent
German: IntermediateThis host offers a language exchange
We are a British couple (Native English-speakers). Anna speaks Spanish and Shaun is learning, we both speak a little German. We would love to practice languages with our Workawayers.Accommodation
Accommodation: You will stay in a shared onsite apartment with up to 4 other Workawayers. The apartment is made up of 2 double rooms and 1 single room, with a shared bathroom, living room and kitchen. We live in a separate part of the house. If you have a camper van we can provide parking (only for “transit van-size” campers, due to limited turning space).
Minimum 2 weeks stay. We are offering set weeks when we have a project on, or when it is “peak time” for land work.
We understand that a Workaway experience can be quite intense – you work hard, often learning new skills daily, sometimes speaking in your second language and adapting to unfamiliar situations all the time – so we want to provide a place where people can enjoy the work but also have somewhere to relax after the working day.
Workawayer's will help us for up to 25hrs per week (up to 5hrs per day, 5 days per week)
We usually start from approximately 09:00-14:00, with a 20 minute break in the middle, then finish work and eat a nice lunch together.
The afternoon is then free to either hang around the house and land, go to the beach or do some other activity as a group or on your own.
There will be one shared meal at midday, and basic ingredients will be provided for breakfast and dinner. There are usually fresh vegetables from the garden and bread delivered daily. We will also provide basic provisions for Workawayers’ days off. All food will be vegetarian and we can also cater for a vegan diet.
We ask our Workawayers to take turns to lend a hand in the kitchen, assisting one of us to prepare the midday meal. What else ...
We have ducks and cats, and the neighbour’s cows graze on parts of our land. For this reason we can’t accept people with pets.
If arriving by public transport, we are close to Colombres railway station (FEVE).A little more information
